Summary: A room size sculpture In the Mid South Scholastic Art Competition there were more than 2 000 entries but only 200 accepted into the exhibit USJ students received four gold keys three silver keys seven honorable mentions and a second place in the senior division The gold key winners will go on to compete at the national level of the contest and both gold and silver key winners are on display at Brooks Museum of Art through February University School of Jackson art students completed a room size sculpture with the help of nationally known artist Sandy Skoglund at the West Tennessee Regional Art Center in Humboldt In the senior division Ann Marie Graham received a gold key a silver key and an honorable mention and placed second Also receiving gold keys were Madeline Crocker Emma Centurion and Elizabeth Crowder Alex Phillips received two silver key awards and an honorable mention Other students receiving an honorable mention were Katherine Bell Zach Fisher and Thomas McKnight who received three Skoglund s visit to the school was sponsored by USJ s Academic Support Group Skogland is known for creating room size settings the photographs she takes of the sculpture becomes her art USJ students submitted designs for the project Skogland chose one by Bailey Crowder Representing right and wrong half the room is done in white and half of the room is done in black Huge thumbtacks represent those gray areas Scholastic Art Winners
