This is a question about Colorado Technical University online.? This is my first time attending college and my first time at an online school. The problem is that the instructors only seem to give as much information as necessary for one to complete an assignment. The student is expected to teach them self’s at least 60% of the curriculum. I am unable to attend classes because the classes are at night. As a result my questions go unanswered. I have a C average but I don’t feel that I am actually learning anything. I honestly don’t know what is considered normal practice for college instructors. Originally I thought that the instructors were supposed to do all the teaching and my only job was to attend classes and learn. I don’t know if this is a typical college class setting or if I am just attending an inadequate university but I need answers. Perhaps I am expecting too much from CTU Online, maybe I am supposed to be teaching my self. I don’t know what is normal for college. Could some please let me know?

University of Phoenix or CTU (Colorado Technical University)? I am currently attending UoP but am just exploring my options. I got a call from CTU and they are telling me their classes have less "waste of time" homework and are cheaper credit hours. I talked to my UoP councilor however and they explained since UoP is on quarter credit hours you need like 30 less than places like CTU who are on semester credits which pretty much means you may be paying less per hour but when you add the additional 30 you are looking at more dough. Anyways I was also wondering if anyone would know if one is better than the other on an application. UoP is more renowned I think so maybe them? BS EE at UCD? Can I get your opinion? I am soon going to graduate from ITT Tech with an associates degree and I'm looking to continue on for a bachelors degree. I am interested in going to University of Colorado Denver but I read online that my credits will not transfer. It's my fault that I didn't do the research about these kinds of things. Think it will be possible to fight them to transfer a least something? I'm deciding if should start over and go for the bs ee degree at ucd or if I should transfer to another institute that accepts my credits like Devry or Colorado Technical University. I researched the schools and read a lot of reviews on the two tech schools. I found a lot of bad reviews and some good ones, however, some of the good ones doesn't sound convincing but they're a few that do. They both have the Accreditation Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) but some companies may still not hire from those schools. So I'm leaning towards going to ucd because it has good reputation and accreditation. I was told that there is a fine line between education and experience. I'm not experienced enough to understand if most or all companies would rather hire a person from a tech school with experience then a person from a university with none. I was thinking that if I do go through with ucd, I would try a co-op or get an internship to gain experience and hopefully that way I'll have a better chance of a good career. I'd also like to add that the bs degree at ITT Tech might be an option but I'm kind of avoiding it because of the cost and the reputation with companies. It has the same kinds of reviews as Devry and CTU. I'm not sure how much it would be for CTU but at Devry it would cost about 25k and get a bs degree in a year and 2 months. ITT Tech will be about 33k and a year and 9 months. For that kind of money, i could get 4 years at UCD instead of 2. Any advice is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance. To sum this up, basically I trying to decide if I should either go to ITT, Devry, or CTU for a bachelors OR go to UCD for Bachelors. My goal is to land a good job and career. I know that I have to gain experience in order to obtain that goal but unsure if most companies would base their decision by ones educational background.

I have a friendship dilemma. Can anyone offer advice? Someone that used to be one of my best friends in college and I have grown apart since I moved away. She lives at home with her parents, and lately she's been making some decisions that I believe aren't very smart. She plays World of Warcraft online and has become friendly with people online who also play the game. There's a girl she talks to a lot apparently, named Rose, who she actually managed to meet once in person when Rose was in her area. I found out a few weeks ago that she is going to San Francisco for a long weekend with this girl (who actually lives where I do) and staying with friends of Rose that she's never met. She barely knows this person. Not really anyway. I get that it's possible to be friends with people you meet online and all, but there's no guarantee they're who they say they are. I just think it's a bad idea for her to be doing this, but I can't exactly say that, so I told her to just be careful. My real dilemma now is the fact that she started "attending" and online school (Colorado Technical University). She pays nearly the same that she would for "regular" school, and is trying to get her business degree. Unfortunately, I have not ever heard of an employer in her field accepting a business degree from an online university. It also happens that hers isn't exactly the best school. I've been receiving spam mails from them once in a while for the past week. To me it seems like one of those pretend schools where you pay all this money and your degree really does you no good. I mentioned she lives with her parents again (she's 23) and they don't seem to realize about online universities. Now, I'm sure there are reputable ones that are fine and all, and that many schools do online programs as well. But I haven't encountered a reputable one before that has sent spam. Getting down to my question, how on earth do I tell this girl that her school doesn't exactly seem reputable and that she won't really get anywhere career wise with an online degree from there? Employers aren't stupid. They're going to do research on the school if they don't know it already, and chances are they'll find out that they spam people. Years ago when we were close this was something I could easily tell her. How do I break it to her gently that I'm pretty sure she's making a huge mistake? She could easily go to community college (she lives in a busy area) for less money, and it is more likely she'd get hired in the future if she did. Is there a grant to help pay off student loans? I use to take classes online on one of those get your bachelor's degree in two years and what not. Turned out that each semester was 5 weeks so every time I would start a new semester, there would be a new charge for that semester, for example 5,000 per semester so in a matter of 3 months I had already accrued a student loan for 15,000. This is not including a secondary loan that I had to get which is like 4,000 or around there. When I realized this I immediately stop taking this online classes. Now my loan is in collections and I can't afford to pay of this debt. I just recently started going to a community college and was wondering if there is some sort of grant or help or law that would stop both of my student loans from going into further collections and/or help me to pay off this debt? Had I known how much I was going to owe once I started I would of never started going there. If you are all wondering what school was it then let me tell you it was Colorado Technical University Online. It's just like University Of Phoenix and all the other online schools out there!! But if there is someone out there that is knowledgeable on the assistance I am seeking please do not hesitate to provide me with this information!! I left out one important detail........ My large loan from staffor that's currently around 12,000, I manage to get that deferred due to unemployment, I have a year according to deferrment program to start paying it back. Does Yahoo know about Synthetic trees? Global Warming? Apparently, some scientist guy has come with a way to fight global warming. For Real. A scientist has invented an artificial tree designed to do the job of plants. But the synthetic tree proposed by Dr Klaus Lackner proposes does not much resemble the leafy variety. "It looks like a goal post with Venetian blinds," said the Columbia University physicist, referring to his sketch at the annual AAAS meeting in Denver, Colorado. But the synthetic tree would do the job of a real tree, he said. It would draw carbon dioxide out of the air, as plants do during photosynthesis, but retain the carbon and not release oxygen. If done to scale, according to Dr Lackner, synthetic trees could help clean up an atmosphere grown heavy with carbon dioxide, the most abundant gas produced by humans and implicated in climate warming. He predicts that one synthetic tree could remove 90,000 tonnes of CO2 in a year - the emissions equivalent of 15,000 cars. "You can be a thousand times better than a living tree," he said. Carbon sinks For now, the synthetic tree is still a paper idea. But Dr Lackner is serious about developing a working model. His efforts suggest the wide net of ideas cast by scientists as they face the challenge of mitigating climate change. Dr Lackner believes that carbon sequestration technology must be part of the long-term solution. Global reliance on fossil fuels will not decrease any time soon, he said, and developing countries cannot be expected to wait until alternatives are available. The technology calls for two things - seizing carbon and then storing it. Direct capture of CO2, from power plants for example, is the simplest, according to Dr Lackner. But this doesn't work for all polluters. A car can't capture and store its carbon dioxide on-board; the storage tank would be too large. "It's simply a question of weight," he said, "for every 14 grams of gasoline you use, you are going to have 44 grams of CO2." The alternative is to capture emissions from the wind. In this case, a synthetic tree would act like a filter. An absorbent coating, such as limewater, on its slats or "leaves" would seize carbon dioxide and retain the carbon. Dr Lackner predicts that the biggest expense would be in recycling the absorber material. "We have to keep the absorbent surfaces refreshed because they will very rapidly fill up with carbon dioxide," he said. If an alkaline solution such as limewater were used, the resulting coat of limestone would need to be removed. Dr Lackner is considering other less-alkaline solutions to prevent carbonate precipitation. "There are a number of engineering issues which need to be worked out," he said. Home use A synthetic tree could be planted anywhere. A small one could sit like a TV on the lawn to balance out the CO2 emitted by one person or family. But more practically, said Dr Lackner, a device the size of a barn would sit in the open air, near repositories for easy transportation and storage of carbon. He estimated that 250,000 synthetic trees worldwide would be needed to soak up the 22 billion tons of CO2 produced annually. But not everyone is rooted to the idea. Massachusetts Institute of Technology engineer Howard Herzog thinks Dr Lackner's design won't hold together on the scale he proposes. He said you would expend more energy in capturing the CO2 - in keeping the slats coated in absorbent and disposing of it - than you'd save. "Once the solvent captures the CO2, it holds it on tight," said Dr Herzog, "and it's going to take a lot of energy to break those bonds." He said that much more research is needed on the technology. "The idea of air capture is seductive and would really be great to have," said Dr Herzog, "but it's important to separate out the concept from the technical details." 'Early days' Meanwhile, Dr Lackner is pursuing his idea for carbon storage. While he was at the US Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory, his team worked on a storage method based on a natural chemical process known as rock weathering. When CO2 binds with magnesium, it creates carbonate rocks which, according to Dr Lackner, retain carbon permanently and safely. Currently, he said, the process is still too expensive to develop on a large scale. But Dr Lackner is optimistic that the costs for carbon capture and storage will come down. "This is still the early days of climate solutions," he said.

CTU(Colorado Technical University) Online Questions? Anyone have any complaints? Will Employers accept a Degee from CTU? I know they are regionally accredited, and all. But sometimes that doesn't mean anything to employers. Their Degree's from their online campus does not say "Online" on it. However, I am worried that being I now reside in Virginia that it will look mightly ackward going to get a job in Criminal Justice in Virginia, with a degree from a state I have never lived in. Any advice(Serious ones please)

Online college's which ones? I have a friend going through baker he loves it however it has nothing to offer in the field I am intrested in. Now there are a couple that have what I want but, I am not sure if they are Accredited. They all say they are but....you never know. Anyone know anything about: CTU Online (Colorado Technical University) Virginia College Central Florida College I am not sure if these are good or not can anyone let me know?
