How do I get a career in advanced animal training? I'm looking to get a career in animal training. I've been working as a trainer at pet stores for a while now, but I really want to advance my career into doing specialized dog training, I.E. Search and Rescue, Service dogs, or I'd like to move into doing more exotics for parks like Sea-world and Busch Gardens. This is the career of my dreams, but I'm having a hard finding a good path into the field. Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as schools, training, and entry-points into the industry? Thank you!

Would you suggest a BMW advanced training for a career in the Automotive Technician field? I'm 24 and I've been doing industrial construction my whole life but the industry is taking a hard hit from the economy. I've always loved cars and I'm very good with my hands and technology. I've read that Automotive Technicians(especially ones trained specifically for one brand) are in demand big time plus I'm tired of moving from country town to country town for 6 months to a year just to work on power plants 60-84 hours a week to clear $80,000 a year. I was wondering if anybody in this industry could tell me the truth about the demand for specially trained Automotive Technicians and If it would be worth me going through one of these special programs(preferably BMW).

Does anyone know of an organization that assists single parents with career assistance / training? I became a single father due to divorce about 5 years ago. I am the custodial parent. During this time I have been struggling to change my career to better suit the needs of my son. I've come to the point now where I believe I need the assistance of an organization to help me find a new career (not just a new job) that is a good fit for my family. Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Where is the best advanced/proffessional jazz dance training in Sydney? I've been dancing for eleven years now, and i'm in my final year of high school in Victoria. I'm looking at pursuing a career in dance and have recently started researching high-level training in Melbourne. Even more recently I've thought about the move to Sydney, but I don't know where is good and where is bad, etc. I'm definitely a jazz dancer, and I'm not looking for intermediate or lower. The place that would get me into a career in dance is the kind of place I'm looking for. Hope you can help :)
Advanced training for Infantry MOS in the Marines vs. Army? First of all, I am not trying to start one of those "which is more bad-ass" arguments. What I am trying to do is fully understand all of the opportunities available before I sign 8 years of my life away to Uncle Sam. Right now, I am planning to enlist as either an Airborne Infantry Soldier or a Marine Infantryman. I am very interested in getting advanced combat training as I progress through my military career. I would also be interested in eventually trying out for spec. ops; The Rangers in particular had my eye (yeah I know I could get it in my contract but I want to wait until I have been hardened by a couple years of service so I know I'm tough enough to pass the indoctrination). Even if I don't join the regiment, from what I understand if I excel as an infantry soldier I would be eligible to attend Ranger School and get the much coveted Ranger Tab. I know the Marines have Force Recon, but I wear glasses, and from what I have read Rangers can have glasses and Recon Marines cannot. I have also read that generally the only Marines that get to attend Ranger school, jump school, and the other sweet schools of the army are Recon Marines. I guess this is my question: What can the Marine Corps offer me as far as schools and combat training opportunities that can rival those available in the army? Is there much further I can even go once I've finished SOI? I don't want to doubt the Corps; I know there's a long, proud warrior tradition behind the branch, but right now I'm leaning strongly towards the army. If anyone has any information that can change my mind I welcome it. Also, if I got any of my info wrong feel free to correct and enlighten me. Thanks.
Newly married w/o job, do you know of an in-demand career training? that is not a 2 yr program? I am a part time student and I really need a job that offers steady shift hours and benefits. I am willing to relocate to a training center if I have to. Thanks in advance.
Just a few questions about Job Corps? I'm going into Job Corps soon and I have a few questions about it. My first question is what the probationary period is and how long it lasts. My second question is what are the people like there? My third question is how long is ACT (Advanced Career Training)? If you've been to or are going to Job Corps or know someone that has gone or is going you would be of very much help.

I am 42 years old with no real job skills. Is there anywhere that I can get training for a career? I have been a security guard off and on for about 10 years and done some fast food management. None of which have yielded the opportunities that I would like to see. I am not looking to become the CEO in a year, but having an opportunity to advance based on my performance and not how well I kiss butt would be nice.
I want to hear from ex NAVY people that now have a good career due to their training in the NAVY? Does anyone know of any schools for make up artist training? I'm trying to help my sister find schools that provide make up artist training. She is currently a cosmetology student and wants to further her career with training as a makeup artist. Schools along the East Coast are preferred. Thanks in advance. Not cosmetology schools as they will give the exact education she already has; I need beauty schools that provide make-up artist training, which is why I am having difficulty finding schools for her.
Problem with career training? Is there something equivalent to a career development loan that is available in the United States? I've tried to get tradiational financial aid, but thats not an option for me. Thanks in advance
Pursue Dog training career? I like to pre plan things before i jump right in and need a little help this time. I have loved training dogs since I was really little and I plan to pursue a career in it. I want to train dogs Agility, Basic commands, and fix problem dogs. I am thinking of working along side a shelter to train some of the dogs before they go to homes. What would be an ideal setup for this. I am thinking a large shed insulated with individual pens but dog runs connected by dogie doors. I will place one dog per kennel and the whole setup will be on a concrete slab. One more thing, what would be a good price to start out with. I was thinking $150 per week depending on the type of training but i'm not sure. I only want this to be a small thing like a side job but If i really like it I will grow bigger. I have done a LOT of research on this but I want to be absolutely sure of everything. I know many people in the dog showing business and training and they are giving me lots of advice but i need a little more info or thoughts. Thanks in advance! I am going to get certified before all this but like i said i plan way ahead. This is just for future references. The kennel will be for the dogs I will foster for the animal shelter while training them for their future home.

School screwed me over now im stuck w studen loans and cant legally work in the feild I graduated in.? I am so lost I have no idea what to do! I am almost 23 now and when I was 20 I decided I wanted to go to school to become a massage therapist. I enrolled at a school called ACT ( advanced career training) I was told I would be able to work right after I graduated and that I didn't have to be licensed to work as a massage therapist. They tossed me around between instructors, one got fired, one quit, one would show up 2 hours late and had no hands on training I didnt feel like I learned anything until my last 2 months with my last teacher. Anyways, less than a month before I graduate I am told that I actually do have to be licensed to practice massage therapy starting the month I graduate but that the ciriculum taught did not include everything I needed to know to pass the national test , which i needed in order to get my license. So I graduate with a massage therapy certificate that month, knowing I couldnt do anything with it I didnt know what to do. The school refused to refund me, they said I could take a 3 hour refresher coarse for a few hundred dollars.......I shouldnt have to do that when I payed them 12,000 in tuition and cant even work. I signed up to take the test anyways. The school was going to pay for the first test. They end up giving me a different date than the actual testing center gave me so I missed it and my free test was gone. To take another one would cost alot of money..........knowing i would most likely fail I couldnt waste 200 bucks. I dont know ANYONE from that school who has graduate and working as a massage therapist. So they admit they didnt teach me what I needed to make it out there in that feild. I called them so many times asking for direction or anything because I was going to have to pay back student loans in 6 months. They never returned my calls, everytime I called the last person quit or got fired so I had to explain everything again. They werent willing to do anything. I got a defferment for a year. Now I am almost 23, expecting a baby any day now, not working due to my pregnancy and wont be working for at least another year and the student loans have come to haunt me. I have debt collectors calling and my husband shouldnt have the responsibility of paying MY loans. I dont know what to do, who to talk to, im not the kind of person to want to sue for 100,000 dollars.......I just feel like I got screwed in this entire deal and I dont want to be stuck with these loans that I cant pay. Now the school has NO massage therapy program anymore and no one knows anything. As if it never exsisted. I have no idea what i can do if I can do anything........Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

I'm making a total career shift. What should I expect in CNA training and work? Advice, Words of Wisdom Plze? I need advice and words of wisdome. Next month I will start training to be a CNA so I can get some steady work when 2012 rolls in. There is no question that I want to do this. I've been care taking for my grandmother, and working with her CNA for three months. I decided that helping people would be a good career choice, plus I desperately need work. The issue is it is the polar opposite of what I originally went to school for. I've been studying and training as a fine artist since highschool. I've been doing so for the past 9 years, till I finally earned a Masters degree last year in 2010. The problem since then has been finding steady work. Despite having an advanced degree, the job market is tight, and the creative field is even tighter. I didn't expect the job market to be so bad when I finished with school. I need a job to keep making art. And since CNA's are always in demand, I figure I'll have a better time w/finding work. Plus, I'll be able to go back to school part time to get some training in other fields like computer technology which will add to my resume. Because I'm going into this CNA thing literally from nowhere, can anybody with experience let me know what to expect, what the classes and testing will be like, what is the work environment like? What can I read or do to mentally prepare myself for this new endeavor. I've heard different stories that men have trouble getting work in the field, and other stories that it's easier for men to find work in the field. I don't know anything about the healthcare profession. Any advice will be appreciated. I'm a bit nervous. Thanks.
I continued my educ./advanced my career - husband chose not 2 had 1st dibs - will I have to pay alimony? I gave him the opportunity 1st. I supported, guided, assisted, did his resume, ect. Gave 1yr. deadline. He did nothing. I did. I haven't stopped - make 3x his salary, but did so for our family. Will I have to pay him alimony? He has huge debt he created in his name only, gambling, extended medical leave when able to play golf, house in my name by trust of my late mom, I paid off all my credit 6 yrs consolid. alone - tried to convince him - no luck. I am going for 3rd masters starting in Sept. trying to further career more for children. Help - he has screwed my boys and I far 2 long and has never made an effort to better himself for the sake of his children - rode the small gravy train and treated me like shit. Has no follow through, I have raised the children, and he has dragged us all in a financial fire!

My plan was during my reenlistment to apply for the officer program and continue on from there, but I'm don't know much about that path.) How does FHA look at students training & job history? I am in a 2 year hospital based training program for a new career. We are allowed to work in the hospital during our second year of the program earning an hourly wage. Once graduated after the second year of classes/training, we would become employees. Two main questions: 1). How would FHA look at that employment history? Would this be an issue? 2). Would Contingent Employee status (getting 38-40 hrs) make a difference compared to regular Full Time Employee (FTE) status? Thanks in advance for your help!

Training for a dance career? So I am 15 and a dude, and I recently discovered that dance is my true passion. I do not want to sound pretentious or cocky at all, because I honestly am not that way at all. Like I know that I have sooooo much to learn haha, but I have been told by dance teachers that I really need to take dance because I have so much natural ability. I have been hesitant though because I've always planned on becoming an actor. Now I have 2 years before I start auditioning for colleges, and I have decided that I want to focus on dance. So my question would be do any really serious/professional dancers think that I'll have a chance at getting into any great schools for dance if I take like 5 advanced classical ballet classes a week, at a great school, for 2 years? or should I stick to taking 3 a week and then also doing theatre? ORR haha should I take 3 ballet and then take some jazz or modern on the side? I honestly am kind of ignorant. So if all those are stupid then offer any wisdom that you can haha. BTW I know that I won't be able to become a professional ballet dancer because of the lack of training, but I think it'd be best to have a super strong background in ballet because everything else is relatively easy. Thank you guys so much! I really appreciate any wisdom that I can get :) @DancerSamsung I know its not nessesarily practical or whatever, but under the circumstances, the ballet academy has already decided it would be acceptable to put me into level 8 if I chose. It's mostly serious, freshman girls who have been training for years, but the head of the school has seen me dance and thinks that after a few months I'll be able to catch up, and it'll save me from wasting any time.
Where can I get Firearm training and basic to advanced hand to hand combat training? I'm not currently interested in the Military or a law enforcement career but I would like to have some experience under my belt because it is something I will consider in the future. I live in CT but if you know just some basic things to look for just tell me. I want intensive training too not "You hit the target here's a cookie." Thanks for any help. And another thing I should have added is what is a good fighting technique for self defense. I don't need to be able to life a building I just want to be able to disable a person in pretty much any situation including a prolonged fight if necessary.
Can an officer apply for training in special forces in the US army? I am going to be a college graduate and am looking to join the military. I am considering two options, one being entering OCS school and the other pursuing a ranger contract with the Army in hopes of training to be an army ranger. Nevertheless, despite the difficulty, I would like to try and enter special forces. My question is can an OCS school graduate then pursue a pathway to becoming a ranger? Is this even logical, ie. should I just pursue a ranger career from the get go? Thanks in advance.

How can I get into an interior design or decorating career? Hi everyone! I'm 22 years old and about to graduate from my Psychology degree. I made the wrong choice - I wish I'd followed a more creative path, but hey, that's life. Eventually, my dream is to develop property and have my own business. This will take a long time and a lot of saving up, so I know I can't do this straight after Uni. In the meantime, I'd love to start a career in interior design or painting and decorating (or something similar). Does anyone know how I can get into this line of work? Do you know of any apprenticeships or training? Or any jobs where I can just get straight in there? Of course, I'm looking around myself too and researching it, but I just wondered if anyone out there could give me any help. Thanks in advance! xx Emmie I'm in the UK by the way :-)
Career in urban planning + business? I need some advice. I'm currently working on my Masters in urban and regional planning. It's my first semester. I like it and I'm learning a lot, but I developed some anxiety about finding a job once I graduated. I'm interested in getting some training in business, hopefully an MBA. My question is about work possibilities: what are some actual jobs that I could be qualified for with advanced training in both business and urban planning?
Any ideas for career change in the baltimore area or NY or elsewhere? I am in my late 40's and pretty desperate for money. I am with an equivalent of 2 years college degree from another country, pretty smart but probably not enough to settle my career after so many years. Any ideas? Maybe a short training for something with demand??? Any self employmaent idea? Thanks in advance for any helpfull information!!! It's great to see so many helpfull people in Yahoo questions!
Is there such a job as a deception expert like their is in the TV show "lie to me"? It seems like such a fascinating career! I already have a BA in psychology including training in how to read nonverbal communications. Although I am not close to the level of the fictional doctor on the show "lie to me" I regularly use these skills with success. I was wondering if their was an actual career where I could go into advanced training and application of these skills?
How do I move on in my career? I went to school for Interior Design and have my Associates in that. I went right after to a career training class to better enhance my drafting skills and got a certificate in AutoCAD Advanced. I do work with AutoCAD now but I work in packaging. I am not saying I'm not happy in this position, but I don't have any knowledge in this field. I learned on the job 3ds Max which has been fun, but even in my down time I find myself drawing floor plans or creating models of houses or furniture. I'd like to get back into my field but how??? I still live at home and financially constraint there for now. I'm living paycheck to paycheck and most if not all of the jobs are at least 35mins-an hour away. What could I do to get back in the interior design field??...espcially with the way the economy is with jobs. I'm a contractor at my current position and can't afford to lose it. Most people are telling me just to stick it out here and continue what I'm doing. As I continue to pay my enormous student loans I feel I should be using what I am still paying for. What's your opinion on what I should do?
Can anyone help me find schools located in New York for special fx makeup training? Career advice needed from practicing illustrators and/or visual artists? I'm a stay at home mom who wants to pursue an illustration career. I want to use my free time at the end of my night to make it happen, even if it takes a long time. I'm hoping it could provide some supplemental income eventually although it's not a priority. I'd like to hear from other working artists or illustrators about what the market is like, the competition, what's in demand, useful websites, other tips, or mistakes to avoid. Any constructive suggestions? I have good formal training as an artist but not much work experience. I have amateur knowledge of graphics applications but I'm willing to study at home to get better - which programs and tutorial books are best? I also love to work traditionally without the computer. I'm stylistically flexible but I prefer doing anthropomorphic work geared towards a child audience or hip, urban stuff. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Can't the argument be made that all fighters "ducked" somebody? I always hear people complain that this fighter ducked that fighter. But theoretically the argument can be made that everybody ducked somebody. Whether it is from contract dispute, obligation to WBC, WBO, IBF, etc, another opponent will advance their career, father trained opponent, promoter issues, etc. Nobody can fight everybody. And professional boxers can only really fight 3 or 4 fights a year. So who do you feel has never ducked another fighter?
College Credit for Military Training? My husband and I have been told that colleges will award credit for military training. My husband is a Navy Corpsman - an EMT basically. He has had advanced nursing courses, Anatomy and Physiology, etc... But the college here (which is actually a whole 5 miles from base and "claims" to be military friendly, won't give him any credit for any of these advanced classes! They say they will only give him elective credit and make him take the high level stuff over again! Even though his degree doesn't require any general electives (just the normal humanities stuff in Psych and Soc). Is this the norm or are we being screwed?! If it is the norm, why in the world are we all psyched up that his college career will be easier because of his training! We can't even get the military to pay for his advanced medical training, and now they aren't giving him any credit for the classes he's already had! Can anyone please give us some advice here? Thank you!
What is the best way to re-train for a career in computer programming? I would like to train in software development / internet design. I have already dabbled with VB, SQL and HTML. What is the best way to get qualified, (courses / from books). What qualifications to go for? Degrees or Microsoft Exams etc and which? Sorry there are a lot of questions here, but when starting out there are so many languages, courses etc on offer, that it is hard to know where to begin, and what employers are after. Any help would be greatly appreciated together with perhaps how you got into the profession, what you specialise in, and how you got qualified. Thanks in advance!!
What would you name my organization? I want to start what would primarily be a youth-serving organization (15-34?) serving both young adults who wish to pursue college and those who don’t. Three components of the organization would be: Bridge & career ladder programs to prepare those pursuing health care, engineering, education, IT and other needed careers in my area. Short-term paid internships, placements into jobs, education or advanced training, and follow-up services to young adults who are out of school and not working. Forgivable loans/scholarships I need a name. You have any ideas? Something identifiable, but funky.
Career / Continuing Education Advice Please? Hello all and thanks in advance for your answers. I am currently working at the corporate office for a large health care company as a physical security professional. My main job function is the complete operation of the company’s physical access control system and alarm systems for the home office as well as numerous remote locations and subsidiaries across the nation. A majority of my work experience is in the physical security industry and any knowledge of access control systems or alarm systems has been picked up by looking over vendor’s shoulders and limited onsite training by vendor staff. I am not unfamiliar with computers, picking up some knowledge here and there, but I know enough to know that I don't know enough. In a field where “convergence” seems to be the word of the day and security systems are getting more technically advanced, my goal would be to improve my knowledge of the IT industry and how it relates to physical security systems in order to advance my career. The only problem is I am not really sure where to begin with selecting classes, certifications, or tech schools vs. college. I would like to specifically focus on IP related topics, networking, SQL, database maintenance, IT security, and anything I might be missing (if anyone has any suggestions). As I said I know enough to know I don’t know enough. Most of my focuses are words or situations that have arisen as I have been working but I could not tell you what most of them mean or how they work, I know they just do and if not I call the helpdesk or vendor. I would also like to obtain more knowledge pertaining to the installation of security systems though this is probably more of an electrical industry topic but it also includes database construction. I do have a limited schedule so I am basically looking at just taking classes specific to my job function vs. obtaining a degree but would like to eventually earn some form of IT degree. If anyone out there has any knowledge of security systems or advice over what classes I should look into taking I would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks
Help! What kind of career should I train for? I am a 40 year old mom with three children. I never graduated college. I am interested in writing, animals and don't mind office work. I can type 80 words a minute and love to surf around the net. I have been researching many different career opportunities on the bls.gov but am still not sure which field to go into. All I know is that I need to make at least 40K a year and I don't have a year's time to devote to school. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Are people better off with on the job training, or collage educations? Considering the astronomical cost of education, I think most people would be better off advancing their careers via on the job training, at least they'd be making money while learning instead of going into financial debt while learning.

What self improvement/training materials do top salespeople REALLY rate? I'm about to enter a new career in sales and I have a huge collection of all kinds of motivation/self improvement and sales/negotiation training materials. Audio, video and books. However, in the *real* world, what have people found to be highly useful and workable? If you are a high achiever sales/negotiation wise-what if any would you recommend to a newcomer? I'm looking at business to business telesales as a starting point and hope to add face to face relationship building as I progress. At the moment I've a list of authors a mile long and I've listened to a fair amount. However having not field tested it all, I could be in fantasy land as to would work :-). Thank you in advance for any assistance. UK based I do like Frank Bettger's book. I acquired this off an old business pal of mine. Charming and sounds realistic. Dale Carnegie is another I do like. The other recommendations are appreciated as I hadn't yet seen them. Thank you. Thank you Ken. John Maxwell I hadn't come across either so far. Covey, I have his audio which I listened to twice a couple of weeks ago whilst doing a fairly long hands on job. I have his book, that I'm using to revise what I heard :-).
What is a good career path for a wannabe dog trainer? This is directed specifically to people that train dogs for a living, whether it's basic puppy obedience or competition agility or sheep herding or showing or whatever - the important thing is that a major source of your income actually involves working with dogs, because I can Google (or am I supposed to say "yahoo" here?) generic information myself. Starting from training my own dogs as a hobby, reading a ton of books (I'm a big Patricia McConnell and Monks of New Skete fan) and magazines, watching videos and seminars, and participating in lists on the internet, where do I go next for actual work? Answer with your story and real life experience. What did you do, how did you get to where you are? What worked and didn't work? What would you do differently if you started over again? Are there particular sources of information you prefer? Do you make enough money training, or do you do other things to supplement? Thanks in advance for your insightful, real world responses. Thanks for the response lizzy. I've seen other dog trainer questions around these parts and there is much bashing of "trainers" that work at Petco and Petsmart. To the trainer community in general, would it be fair to say that maybe it's not the best place to get your own dog trained, but it's a good place to gain some experience yourself? Or is working there also somehow subpar? In terms of companies that are actually hiring, those two are always up there.
What viable career options are available for a truck driver with 3 years experience, and a business degree? I also have more than 23 years as an accountant/corporate finance manager. I have experience in budgeting, business modeling/planning, variance analysis, process improvement, project management, team building and many other corporate and business related functions. I have a goal to start my own logistics related company, but I need more industry specific experience. I've tried driving the big trucks to get connected to some shippers and to familiarize myself with the shipping culture. I have also certified as a transportation broker, but don't have any experience in this area yet. I'm trying to decide what kind of work/job would provide the most education and training that would be the most beneficial toward my goal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Eddy

Helicopter Pilot training Grants? Can anyone point me into a direction to seek grants for pilot training (rotorcraft)? I have a Sallie Mae career training loan but was only given 30k of the 50k I need. I am a working adult in a career training program but not degree program, so FAFSA is not really an option. Thanks in advance for any information. I did look into that, but to get into helicopter training for military (Army) you have to enter warrant officer school. With that you have to be under 30 and have 60 credit hours of college. I am 32 and have 45 hours.

Would being discharged from military basic training for severe depression hurt chances in politics? 1. If someone was discharged from the military for severe depression, would that destroy their chances of pursing a political career now that they are better? 2. If that person wanted to rejoin the military and serve their time, could this help repair the damage that may be done to their political career? 3. Could the media or anyone else obtain the person's military records without that person's permission? Thanks in advance. The most helpful answer will win the 10 points.

I can't decide where to work as a police officer in Canada or to leave Canada and need career advice.? I'm almost 25 years old and I exceed all of the requirements at most police department in Canada. However, I do not know which department in Canada to apply to or even if I should stay in Canada. ( I was offered a job in the Caribbean as a police officer.) Where I live currently, police employment would not be an option so I have to move, but I don't know where. I have a BA and MA in criminal justice, various United Nations diplomas, a police science diploma, and a private investigaton diploma. I also have 3 years army reserves training in infantry. I am a qualified advanced medical first responder. I have volunteered part-time at various organizations for over 6 years. I am looking for a police department where I could utilize my education and experience while having fun (ie: SWAT, sniper, etc) without having to wait 5 years as a basic patrol officer. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.
