Masters Degrees From Online Schools Knowledge Base

Are online Masters degrees (from accredited institutions) given less credibility than traditional schools? I'd really like to get a Masters degree (either MIS or similar) from an online university mostly b/c it best fits my schedule. I don't want to waste my time though if employers will ignore these types of degrees for advanced positions. What experiences (good or bad) have people had when applying for jobs or seeking promotions with an online degree?
are online schools for Masters degrees convenient and respected or is there a negative connotation to them? I am soon to be completing a Bachelors in sociology from a California University. I am going to be getting my Masters in Science for counseling, but since i was 18, i have been working and going to school at the same time. Once i get my bachelors, i plan to move to a higher paying job, which will require more responsibility and time, which i see as a problem because it is exhausting to juggle both. I just want to know what educated people think of online degrees, i think they are all the same, but perhaps people involved in interviews and hiring could tell me if there is a real taboo on those as opposed to actually attending a university. thank you!
Has anyone received a masters degree from Canyon College online? If so was it reputable enough for a career? I am in a position where I am pretty set to get a state job if I complete a masters degree...but I am scared if that doesn't for sure pan out if a degree from this online school will be good enough? Do employers even really look at what school your masters degree is from? Thanks
Recognition of online degrees from US grad schools for immigration? I want to know if the US state department and USCIS recognizes graduate degrees obtained via distance education for immigration applications. A US regular graduate degree is an advantage in H1B visa applications as applicants who hold a masters from US based schools are reserved 20000 slots. Does people who obtained theirs from outside the US via dist edu have the same benefit?
I graduated from college with a 2.01 GPA, and now I want to get a Masters. What online schools will accept me? I graduated from the University of Rhode Island and earned my BA in Economics. Now I'm looking to take some online courses to get my Masters Degree in Economics. However, all the popular online colleges (University of Phoenix, Kaplan University, etc.) all state on their website that a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required to enroll. So I need to know, can I really not get accepted to these programs with a 2.01 GPA? And if so, what accredited online universities will accept me with a 2.01 GPA? I would appreciate any information. Thank you very much.
Are these schools looked highly upon for online master's degrees? Here is a list of schools that offer Master's Degrees online and are relatively inexpensive. 1. Ft. Hays State University in Kansas 2. American College of Education 3. Walden University 4. AIU 5.Western New Mexico University They are all accredited I am sure. My question is, would degrees from these places be looked upon the same way as a degree from a brick and mortar school? Thanks
Has anyone transferred from University of Phoenix to another online school for a Masters degree? I will be completing my bachelors degree in accounting from University of Phoenix within the next year and I am wanting to transfer to another university to complete a masters program. Not sure what exactly- something in business- finance, accounting, mba, etc. The main reason will be trying to find a good school that is a little cheaper and I would also just like to try another school. Can anyone offer suggestions on another school that offers these online degree programs? Oh- and please don't say anything about University of Phoenix being a bad school or anything- because that is your opinion and that is not what I am here to ask. Thanks.
Does anyone have any comments on getting a Masters Degree in Psychology online? I am debating on getting my Masters degree online but am unsure if it is really possible. Is an online Masters degree in Architecture as good as a degree from a regular university? I am about to have a baby but I want to get my Masters in Architecture. Would it be a waste of time and money to get it online? If so what are some schools that are accredited? Thanks! The Academy of Art in California has a program. And it is accredited.
How much does online degree cost from good schools like USC ? I am trying to do a good Masters from schools like USC , can you tell me how much would it cost ? Is it worth going for these degrees ?
University of Phoenix and Kaplan University for Masters degree online? I am looking into going back to school for an MBA and don't really have the time to go back to a traditional school. Kaplan University and the University of Phoenix are both solely online and accredited which I like. However, I'm worried about how graduating from an online school might look to potential employers in the future. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice about this? Does it look the same as say an MBA from UNCC or any other state school to a potential employer or does it look bad? Thanks!
What do people think of Online Schools to get their Masters? I have decided to possibly go back to school and get my Graduate degree. What do people think of Online Schools such as Univ. of Phoenix? Does anybody have any experience? My brother currently is getting his Masters in Teaching from there and he was told my other teachers and principles that employers DONT generally look down on degrees from The UOP. What is the cheapest, easiest, fastest, online masters degree possible? I have decided to go for my masters. I want it to be the cheapest, easiest, fastest, online degree possible? I live in Florida. I have decided to pursue a Masters degree. I haven't narrowed it down yet but it will most likely be one of these three; Special Ed, Ed leadership, or Psychology. My Bachelor's is in Psych. I have a teaching cert for both Psych and Special Ed.(ESE). I am finishing my sixth year of teaching ESE at the high school level. I am currently studying to take the middle grades integrated curriculum exa, which will earn me certifications in math, science, english and social studies. I get emails most every day from universities trying to recruit me. Now that you know a little about me, I would appreciate a bit of advice. To be honest, I want this to be as quick and painless as possible. I also know there are schools out there that meet my requirements, I just haven't searched for them yet. Please help. Thanks!
Is it possible to get a masters of psychology online? I am currently completing my BA in psychology at a brick and mortar university. I currently have a 3.0 across the board and am afraid I will be unable to get into most MA programs. I have been researching online degrees but am a bit skiddish about trusting them. I am in NC and most accreditation is for midwest. I would like to know if it is possible to get an online masters degree in psychology that actually is reliable? Also, if I were to get a a degree from an online school accredited else where (say midwest) would I be capable of being certified in my state? (I am looking at counseling, school, clinical or experimental)
What is a good online school to get a Masters in Information Systems degree? I recently completed my BS Degree is InformationTechnology and am looking to get into a good online school for my Masters in Information Systems. Is there any good online schools that offer this program asides from University of Phoenix?
Can you get a good job at a good company with an online bachelors / masters degree? There are so many online universities out there like Kaplan Uni and Uni of Phoenix. Will good companies accept degrees from these schools?
Does matter if you receive your degree online( as long as it's from a good school)? I am not talking about Devry or Phoenix. I am planning on attending Drexel University for a masters degree. The program itself is only offered online...Drexel is a school with a good rep especially here in the Northeast(which is why I am going). Still people question it because it's online. Does it really matter? When researching schools to attend I found a lot of schools to be online like Penn State, UConn and even Harvard. Isn't this just wave of the future
Where Can You Get A Masters Degree Online In Psychology In Texas? My mom has a bacheolers degree in psychology that she never used and would like to take a masters course in it in order to get an LPC, however she would like to do this online but NOT at a place like University Of Phoenix or online universities, she would like to take one from a real reputable university like a school in Texas, anyone know of any?
How much credibility do employers see in online degrees? Also, do bosses see enough credibility in online master's degree to grant payraise to an employee who attains one besides working hard and doing a good job? Will employers consider someone who at least got an online degree from an accredited school if not a big name school? I'm thinking about getting an online master's since I need to keep steady with my current job. For any hiring managers or bosses who'll answer this post, what's your take?
Is an online degree for graduate school treated with respect from employers? I'm thinking of going back to get a Masters Degree and if I could do my classes over the internet it would be much more convienent, but I'm not sure if those degrees are worth anything.
should i go to school online for my masters? I just had a baby and would like to get my masters. I am thinking Human Resources or Education. Anyone had experience or have any comments on either program? Would you hire someone with an online degree. I know to stay away from for profit schools and stick with tradional schools that offer online degrees as well. monkey-where do you go to school and what for
Anyone ever got a Master's Degree online? What are the best online schools? I'm not good with long standardized tests. Will I have to submit GED scores? I also only have a 2.5 GPA from my B.A. degree. Will that prevent me from getting enrolled. I screwed up on some science course that brought my GPA down, but I'm not dumb. I want to learn and get a good career. Also, are online colleges cheaper to take? And how long is a Master's Program? Thank you for answering. Online courses just make me a little skeptical with the way people rip you off these days.
what does a bachelors of science in psychology from baker college online REALLY get me? i'm considering going for a BS in psychology through a 100% online program through baker college in michigan. but i'm worried about how that will help me if i want to continue on to a masters degree or get into medical school. what do employers think about online degrees anyway? thanks
Is business school accredation (AACSB) crucial when considering to get an online Master in Accouting degree? I am considering to obtain a Masters in Accounting degree from an online university.I am concerned about business school accredation (AACSB). Some online schools I have considered are only regionally accredited and I am afraid this may deter future employers from hiring me upon completion. Please help.
Should I get a Masters degree or another Bachelors? I recently graduated with my BA in Child Development from a really good school, with a really good GPA, but have decided that I want to be a graphic/web designer instead. Since my husband's in the navy and we'll be moving around a lot, I've been looking into getting another degree online. The problem is that no online schools offer Masters in graphic design or web design or anything even remotely related. Should I get a second Bachelors in the subject instead? Or should I go for an online Master's degree in a subject that doesn't interest me as much?
Online Masters Degree in Art Therapy? I just graduated from the local university in Human Services and want to get my Masters in Art Therapy. Can I do this online and if so, which schools?
Do you look down on people with a degree from an online school vs. a traditional school? I went to a traditional university for my bachelors, and am about to earn my masters from an online university. Do you think when people ask where I went for my masters, and I tell them Strayer, they won't hold me in the same high regard just because my master's is from an online university?
Online Masters degree..................? Is it okay to get your master from an online school? Do employers look at it the same? There's a school name Tiffin University(in Ohio), they offer both online classes and on campus classes. is it a good school?
Do you get a better one on one education as well as less debt learning from online schools? I lost my scholarship at a two year college because I couldn't afford to pay for books much less feed myself. Now I've been unemployed since august and desperate to get a job and education...I was told not to bother with FASFA last year because parents made about 74 grand and it was just a waste of time and did you know that some colleges will tell you that you cant get a Stafford loan because your going to that school? Something about certain schools don't get funded for those loans at least that is what i was told by the admissions officer!?! ...that and I had no credit score..why is it i can now purchase a pack of cigarettes ( I don's smoke just trying to make a statement here how the gov says i'm independent enough to purchase that bull) but are considered a dependent? Gov is screwing everyone over for their education.. anyway parents made less this year and may actually could get something from FASFA and I've learned since then that ALL students.. doesnt matter the school can get a student loan. Its always been my dream to go to college and come out with at least a masters degree either technology or law. Can you get a better education (better student teacher attention when you need it and be able to go as slow or faster than you need to?) as well as cheaper on the pocket book and in less time than a regular college or university? Jobs here are easy to come by..if you have a college degree..but everyone knows that cycle.. what are some good online schools.... I tried ashworth but they are just a big headache..they teach nothing and take your money..still trying to get out of it even though have asked to be dropped from the program. Are there any LEGITIMATE online colleges where employers will be excited to hire you? really need a good education because im tired of dead end jobs...I WANT A CAREER!
From which university should I apply for my masters in education? This is my fifth year of teaching (experience in K-2nd grades) and I have decided to go back for my master's in education. I live in Texas and would like to stay loyal to a brick and mortar school here who offers 100% online master's degree programs. Any suggestions?
Where can I Find Accredited Online Masters Degree Programs? Hello, I'm still in high school, but I started to looking for my future education.I read some information on the internet ... so many colleges so many universities. How to choose which of them?I'm interested to find a list of all accredited online masters degree programs. Can you help me, please? From where to start? There are so many sites that talk about online masters degree programs.I need to find which of them are accredited and more detail information about all colleges programs.
is a JD from an online law school in California worthwhile? I am thinkng of becoming an attorney down the road, but don't have the time for the traditional brick and mortar class room, not to mention the 100k tuition while trying to make ends meet. But I would really rather spend my golden years as an attorney/consultant than a greeter at Wal-Mart. And at 30 years of age, I might be planning too far ahead, but I am at a stage in life trying to decide between either getting a masters degree in taxation or go with the online law degree to eventually get a JD and practice in California. I'll mainly be considering business law and family law consultation, no court room drama litigation stuff.
I am looking for a online Master Degree Program in Accounting? So I have been at this for a few weeks now and have only come across one school that I have liked so far. It is SNHU. However, SNHU does not offer some of the things I am looking for in an online school. What I am looking for is an online school that offers Master degrees in accounting. I do not want to have to take the GMAT or GRE as I cannot afford either of the two. I am also looking for a school that has low tuition. $100-$500 per credit hour would be ok. SNHU also does not offer scholarships so I am looking for a school that does offer them. I do not want to have to take out thousands of dollars in loans if I have other means to pay for it. It would be awesome if I could find a school that either pays for the students laptop or includes it in tuition. Books included in tuition would be great as well. Since I have no background in accounting SNHU wants me to complete over 54 hours but that is an awful lot. I am looking anywhere from 30 credits to 45 credits. They have to be regionally accredited and accredited by either the ACBSP or AACSB. I live in Illinois and these are the requirements to sit for the CPA exam. SNHU also waived my application fee since I am unemployed which was great. So if anyone has any schools in mind that would be great. I have already looked at places like Keller, UOP, and other well known online schools but I am not interested in any of those. I am looking for a reputable school where I am not going to be laughed at when I go to take the CPA exam. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sandra....I've already been to that website but thank you!
Online Schools offering degrees in Biology? I have been searching for a little while now and cant seem to find any. I am wanting a degree in Biology, either in Marine Biology or a degree that would allow for Wolf Conservation, field studies etc. I know they are pretty distant but I would probably be happy in any biology field. I have worked with all kinds of animals from White Tigers to Red Pandas to Lar Gibbons to Black Rhinos all at a conservation that focuses on breeding. Im also a Dive Master training to be an instructor (so thats why marine Bio) and I have always been fascinated with wolves. Im leaving next month for the Caymans to work in a Dive shop that trains people and does tours and what not so I need to find a school because if I can do online schools than I will just stay until I finish my degree but if not then I will have to come back at the end of the year or next may(havent decided). My boss told me there is a school on the Island that will do Marine Biology but Ild rather have the option of something else online too. Any help on this one?
What are some good, 'legit' online schools that offer BA degrees? I want to go into a Masters program for Library Science, but my lack of BA keeps me from entering one, obviously. Does anyone know of some decent online schools that offer BA degrees that do not seem so lame and cheesy (University of Phoenix comes to mind as something I want to stay away from). I understand Boston University has one for a Liberal Arts degree. Anyone know about it? I just want to be done with my BA so that I can get into a Masters Program and get on with my career. I guess what it comes down to is a degree that is acquired via online courses that does not LOOK like a degree that was acquired via online sources. Tips? Suggestions? Advice? All is appreciated.
What reputable colleges/universities offer online undergraduate degrees? I am currently working full-time and would like to earn my undergraduate degree online from a reputable institution. My goal is to eventually take a break from work and relocate in order to get my master's/doctorate from an Ivy League/Top 10 school. Would it be feasible for me to get into one of these schools with an online degree? Can anyone recommend some good schools that offer online degrees that would look good when I apply for graduate school?
What is the best university to earn a Masters degree from? There are very few universities near me so I am thinking about completing grad school online. What are some well known and valued schools I could attend? Looking for a degree in communications, management, leadership...something along those lines. Thanks!
Do you think a Bachelors or Masters degree from and acredited ONLINE university...? carries the same weight as one earned in lecture halls? I am a nursing student, and will have completed my Associates degree when I get my RN. I would like to keep going to school but will also have to start working. Is an online university a good choice or would it look bad in the medical field??
get online degree from oversea? Currently, I live in Japan, I want to get online master degree. Does anybody know which school is good about marketing degree? Also if anybody got master degree from overseas through online, I wanna listen how it was like advantage and disadvanntage taking online.
"Little or No study" online degrees? A few people that I work with, have received degrees from online schools (Strayer, Excelsior, etc..) which required them just to pay money to receive the degree with little or no study, no tests, etc.. The degrees are supposedly "Accredited". Unfortunately our employer, gives them full credit for obtaining these degrees. Should I do it too? I've obtained my Bachelor's degree the old fashioned way...it was difficult but I learned a lot. I don't really have the time to get a Master's degree the right way, but I still need to be competitive... I have read articles that say "Don't be a victim of the online paper mills" but it seems like the real victims are the people who DON'T do it.. Should I just drop the money down for the degree? I need to DO something to stay ahead... thanks for your commments but as i mentioned my employer gives them full credit for these degrees, pay raise, promotions ,etc...so to my employer (and I'd bet many others) they are not worthless
Do I need to list my Associates Degree on my resume or just a Bachelors and Masters degree? I have my associates degree from an online school. When I apply for a career in the future do I just put my Bachelors and Masters or do I need to include associates as well, even though its just basic courses?
Online Master's of Education degrees - HELP!? Please save my bleary eyes from more research. I am a spouse of a U.S. military officer, living in Asia (not near any universities). Obviously, I cannot obtain a master's degree in the traditional sense. That leaves online. My concern is having a degree on my resume from an institution that nobody's heard of. I know that there are plenty of good quality schools out there that are not widely known. However, I feel a bit leery of the schools that are exclusively online. Even if they're properly accredited, are there any exclusively online schools that are great quality, somewhat known, and "safe?" Some of the well known schools like Drexel and Penn St. have some online master's degree programs, but their programs are not as flexible as the lesser known schools' programs. Being a military spouse who moves frequently, flexibility is critical. Quality is critical! Thoughts? Advice? Thank you for your time in reading this long post.
Masters Degree from University of Phoenix- A question of economics & respectability? I am considering where to get a Master of Science in Business Management. I want to continue with education in this specific area of study. Naturally, I also want to make a sound economic choice and, at the same time, one that will be respected by prospective employers. University of Phoenix, offers a comprehensive program with an affordable price tag. I've also considered Pepperdine, UC Irvine, and Chapman College. All of which are extremely high priced and very respected. I worry about the following: the cost of a "brick and mortar" school with a good reputation vs. an online degree, the value employers place on degrees (online or traditional); the respectability of an online degree; the competitiveness of an online degree; the ROI of my degree with the higher end schools. I'm interested in honest opinions, even if they are bad. I'd love to hear from an employer's perspective and a UOP graduate. I'm looking around and am having a hard time deciding. I thought it would be a good idea to get some opinions before making a commitment. @Adorable and PE2008, Thank you for your responses and your input. I appreciate your help. @PE2005, I'm curious about your comment. If I'm correct, you're saying the university of choice is a lack of judgment, not the area of study. Right? Forgive my typo. I meant PE2008, not 2005. Sorry :(
can you switch from an online masters program to an in class program? I have a problem. I am now in my junior year of my undergrad program in psychology at Nebraska Wesleyan University. I am dating someone and we are very serious. The problem is is that he is a year behind in school so I will graduate before him. To get a decent job in the psychology field I am going to need to get a masters degree. They dont have masters programs for psychology at my university and they dont have any at UNL...So, would any of my future employers look down on me if I take a year of online masters program and then switch to an in class program? The other problem is that for me not to have to pay back my school loans I need to stay in school and I do not want to leave him in Lincoln all by himself. Can you even split a masters program like that, where you transfer in credits from online classes?
Anyone know of any online masters (graduate) degree programs in the United States that are online in math? Anyone know of any online masters (graduate) degree programs in the United States that are online? IMPORTANT:I am only interested in programs from schools that have traditional on campus degrees as well. What I mean is not schools like University of Phoenix which mostly offer programs online. Here's an example: Texas A & M has a masters program in math online: http://distance-ed.math.tamu.edu/ Even though Texas A & M is a well-known traditional school. I don't mind if the degree has a small concentration in something else like education as long as the degree has a main focus on math. As I am not a Texas resident tuition would be about $1,000 per credit so I am looking for something cheaper.
is a bachelors degree from a real university..? look better than a degree from somewhere like university of pheonix, ITTech, and online schools, or are they completely the same? i will be attending a California State University and i know many people who are working on their degrees at schools like the above and they go to school less hours and years, yet they still get a bachelors or masters degree. how is that possible? if you were an employer, which degree from which school would you find more impressive i meant DOES a i plan to double major in human resources and marketing or accounting, as well as minor in probably english
Do employers turn their backs on people who received online degrees? I am currently a college student attending an accredited college at a university. I am about to graduate in May 2010 and I am in the process of applying to graduate schools. I am applying to programs in international studies with a concentration in security intelligence. I've applied to universities and institutes, but I have also found some online universities that offer the same masters degree. I am trying to really move up and have a high position in government either it'd be the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc., and just am wondering if the state department, these three-letter agencies and the government in general turn their backs on people who earn their degrees online? I ask this because you don't see many heads of state or high-ranking officials who are known today with an education background at online universities. But you do see many from well-known universities, etc. Will they turn their backs on people with an online degree? If they weigh two resumes together and they see an online degree and a degree from a university that is known for its name, there is a high chance they would pick the person from the university right? I am just worried about my school picks for graduate school. Anyone out there who have suggesstions? I am interested in Strategic Intelligence Studies and Intellignece. Thanks.
Are there any schools that offer undergraduate degrees in architecture online? From what research I have done I have only seen Masters degree being offered online. I'm already in an architecture program but it's paired with interior design and its just not my thing. My ideal school is online but I live in North Carolina so I'm also open other schools in state.
Are there any schools that offer online art therapy programs? I live in CT and want to pursue an art therapy degree. I already have a BFA in Ceramics- I just need to take more classes in psychology and then need to proceed in the masters program. I work full-time and live far from colleges that offer these programs. Does anyone know of any online schools that have art therapy degrees?
Do law schools accept bachelors/masters degrees earned online? i want to go to places in either indiana (indianapolis school of law) or pennsylvania (pittsburgh school of law) but am not sure they will let me in with a degree earned from an online school (univeristy of phoenix). please help :) yea i should probably try that lol. ive looked on both homepages of the colleges and could not find any number to contact them, so thats why i tried here. yea, the lady i spoke on the phone with (who runs addmissions) says its VERY accredited
Anyone with online degree - What types of jobs did you find after graduation? Best online schools? I am thinking about continuing my education by obtaining a masters degree online. I have researched three schools in particular. UMASS - Lowell, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Boston. The degree I'm going for is a Masters in Criminal Justice. Has anyone graduated from any of these schools? Was it easy for you to obtain a job afterwards? If you obtained a job, what type? Do you think an online masters degree is worth it? Any advice would be helpful.
UMASS - Lowell or University of Cincinnati online masters degree? I am looking at these two schools to complete an online masters degree. Has anyone graduated from these schools online? Bad experiences, good experiences? I really don't know which one to choose and I'm not sure which one would look better on my resume so any information would be helpful.
Online Masters Degree or Second bachelors degree? Online Masters Degree I am a 24 year old head strength and conditioning coach/assistant football coach at a H.S. in California. I am also a substitute teacher/personal trainer and make fairly good money with these 2 jobs combined (coaching I merely received a stipend). I own a house and live comfortably... With that said I have my B.S. in Kinesiology and am interested in obtaining my masters degree, though have no interest in relocating unless it's for a graduate position. I've accepted that getting one of these positions is next to impossible unless I know the head guy or someone else important within the athletic program. My GPA is under a 3.0 so it is hard to get into most schools that are within commute distance... My question for all of you is would you hire someone that obtain their masters degree from an online school/program? Or would this be a complete waste of time/money? ..This would be a great way to accomplish this goal of mine though I am afraid that most employers would look the other way once they see that I have an online degree posted on my resume. It's either this or I'm thinking about doing a second bachelors degree in Spanish, busting my butt, possibly getting my masters in that and becoming a bilingual teacher and/or coach. Please comment on this, your advice/opinion/comments will be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Best online school to get my masters in accounting? I'm looking to the best online school to get my masters in accounting. Would like to hear from those of you that got a masters in accounting online, did you get into the "Big 4". If so why? If not was it the online degree?
Have you graduated from an online school with a psychology degree and landed a job? If you have graduated from an online school with a degree in psychology, I would like to know if it was difficult to find a job. What school did you graduate from and was it APA acredited? Did you achieve a Master's or Doctorate degree? Was it very difficult to find a job in your field after graduating from an online school? Where are you working now, and in what area of psychology? Thanks, your answers will help me in my decision about going back to school!

From what school is it best to get a philosophy degree online? *By best, I mean 'legitimate, reputable, applicable to a career track'. *Associates, bachelors, masters, the degree type matters very little to me, as long as credits are transferable.

Quality Online Masters Degree Programs? I have been looking into online Masters Degree Programs over the past month. I am active duty military so I am looking for something I can do online because I don't have the time during the daylight hours to attend class. In my search I have to contradictory desires, one is to find a school to be proud I can say I have a degree from, and the other is to not be paying for the degree for the rest of my life. Military TA will pay 250 a credit hour and I am trying to stay close to that amount. My degree preferences would be in Military History or Intelligence. I have found some Justice Studies degrees that have Intelligence concentrations and History degrees that have military. electives. I feel like I spend all my time looking for a school and I am ready to get started, but I am still lacking in the where. The school I keep coming back to is AMU which is operated by APUS, but I am still a little weary on the competency and recognition of the degree programs. Any help would be outstanding.
Is a masters in intellegence from American Military University any good? I am currently in the Army National Guard as a officer candidate (cadet) in Army ROTC in college. I have completed one tour as an enlisted combat arms soldier in Iraq. I will be graduating this spring with a bachelors in business. For my last year of ROTC in college I need to be enrolled full time in school so I will be working on my masters’ degree. I am taking my commission as a officer in the Reserves as a intelligence officer. I wish to take a job being an intelligence analyst in the civilian sector and was wondering if a master in intelligence is any good for what I wish to do and if AMU is creditable or if there are any better online schools that offer this degree. Please for your answers I am looking for people who have served in the intelligence field or are knowledgeable of it, thank you!
Is University of Phoenix online program for a Master's degree prestigious? How prestigious is getting a Masters in English from the University of Phoenix? Is it looked on as a credible degree or not really? What other online schools are more prestigious or available?
Do you think it matters where I get my masters degree from? Hello, I am 40 years old, have a great job in money management. I have my bachelor's degree and are certified in Treasury Management. My company will pay for tuition reimbursement of $5K per year. I also have three kids and work full time. I can get my MBA from Western Governors University in two years for $12K. This means I would only have to pay $2k out of pocket. This is an online school that is accredited and got great reviews. Or I could go to a school that is local but also has an online school (which I need with three kids) and pay $10k out of pocket. If I went to this school no one would know it is an online degree because they also have local programs that are not online. I would have to take out school loans for that though. Money is tight and I prefer not to. Do you think this online school from Western Governors would affect my job opportunities? or will it not matter, because I will have an MBA and that does not matter too much that I got it online. Help? Oh thank you! What is regionally accredited versus nationally accredited? How do I find that out? Nationally and Regionally Accredited Western Governors University is nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). WGU is also regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, one of the major accrediting commissions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Regional accreditation is considered the highest form of accreditation given to institutions. The Northwest Commission is also responsible for the accreditation of other major institutions such as the University of Washington, University of Oregon, Gonzaga University, University of Utah, University of Idaho, and Brigham Young University, to name just a few. NCATE Accredited The WGU Teachers College is the first and only exclusively online provider of teacher education to receive accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The NCATE accrediting team I just added details on its accreditation. Can you tell me if this is okay then? It looks like it is regionally accredited. Okay, so I should look for schools that are accredited AACSB and attend that MBA program and pay a bit more and go part time if I want this degree to pay off?
I am looking for someone that is currently enrolled in a Masters of Education Degree in Administration online? I have a B.S. in Ag. What schools in the US can I obtain a Masters degree while living in American Samoa? I might be moving to American Samoa, but I want to get a Masters in Counseling from a school in the states. More online state/ and reputable private colleges in future??? Will their be more online schools to earn Graduate degrees from schools such as Southern Cal, Boston U, GW, UF, PSU, Illinois, etc... I was wondering if more and more colleges were going to jump on the bandwagon, schools like U of Dayton, Notre Dame, Miami, Arizona, Cal, etc... Online degree - Master's (public health) vs MBA? Graduate from top college vs not so good graduate school? (1) I intend to stay in the healthcare finance industry. Which graduate degree will be more beneficial for my career development (and possibly higher income) -- getting a master's (in public health) or MBA? (2) For my undergrad degree, I graduated from a top national college. There are more nationally reputable online master's programs than online MBA programs. Is it better to have the "name" than the type of graduate degree (MBA vs MPH)?
Online MBA program from University of Phoenix? I am considering enrolling in the U of PHX online MBA program. Has anyone done this? What do you know about U of PHX? Is a Masters from there as good as a Masters from say, U of MI? I know my diploma would not say "received online", but does it matter if it is an online degree or one from grad school I actually attended after college graduation?
Am I suffering from severe depression? and will a normal person be depressed going through my situation? I'm 25 years old about to turn 26. I have not been able to have friends, go out, or have a girlfriend for the last 7 years due to deaths in family...so I'm had to stay home to take care. I grew up in a small town where all of the good looking girls where taken and I've always been told that I look good (I'm asian guy). It's crazy now that I'm 25 and never had a girlfriend. I was so outgoing, and just about everybody liked me...and I was part of the "crowd" in school. Was a team captain of the golf team, etc etc. I lost everything except for my education, which now I'm working on my masters degree online. Is this normal to be feeling sad all the time due to my situation? I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can, and I want to know if there is anybody out there that is going through the same sort of thing.
How can you tell which Online Masters degree programs at online schools are the best? I am really interested in entrepreneurship and want to eventually go to graduate school. I want a degree (masters or bachelors) that is in a specific area, like criminology or something related to FBI/Investigations/crimes against people work, but they are all just criminal justice. I want something more specific than that.

Accredited online education masters degree program for Texas? I'm trying to find an online school that offers a masters in education program that would be recognized and accepted while I'm teaching in Texas. Anybody that teaches in Texas get a masters degree online, that their district recognized and can share what site and program they went through? So far no teachers from Texas have been able to help me answer my questions. I really don't want either of these first two answers to get any points, because they are so what I was hoping not to get. Obviously I'm aware there are many online colleges available, any dummy with a search engine could find that out, but accreditation varies by state so if you don't know specifics please don't waste your time.

Where is a great online school to obtain masters in teaching early childhood education? I am currently unemployed and have lots of free time. I am pursuing the NJ Alternate Teaching Certificate for Early Childhood Education, but it seems to be a lot of loops to jump through just to get into a school system. So I decided to maybe try the traditional route. Any suggestion. Would an employer look down at a person who earned her Masters degree online? Okay, so I'd really like to go to grad school. I want to work within the state government as well as working for non-profit organizations, therefore I'd like to get my Masters in Non-Profit Management or Public Affairs (still a little undecided). I found a few graet schools online where I could earn my Masters and I ever did my research by checking them out on the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Anyway, I wanted to know (because I've asked around to teachers at my job) would an employer frown upon someone who wants to work at their office/company/business and they've earned their Masters degree online?

Does anyone know the average salary for online college instructors

How accredited is University of Phoenix when compared to a State college for a Masters degree? I want to go back to school and get my Masters degree. Do any accredited colleges offer strictly online degrees for a Master's in Journalism? I am looking to get a Master's Degree in Journalism. What do employers think about a master's degree learned online? Currently I work for a career college. I am able to receive full tution reinbursement for my masters degree if I attend a sister school of hte college I currently work. Do any "brick and mortar" schools offer a online doctorates or phd degree? I'm wondering if any "brick and mortar" schools offer doctorates or phd degrees online? I know of plenty brick and mortar extension schools that have masters programs online (Harvard, NE, MIT, etc...) but nothing further up. Please keep in mind im only asking about programs associated with well known, non-online only, schools. Also I'm preferably interested a business degree but if you know of a school that offers this in a different field of study your welcome to list it here. Thanks. RoaringMice, I was just curious. Infact i much rather have a doctorates then a PHD because I wouldnt plan teaching or doing alot of scholerly research after graduation. It would be more for personal knowledge in the field and a better look to employers. Northcentral university for example is accredited and offers some very interesting DBA and PHD programs in business but i get the feeling that since they arn't associated with a brick and mortar school the degree would be looked down on by colleagues and employers.
An online masters degree? Are they viewed differently then a regular MBA for instance, and are these online schools reputable? I was looking at Harding and Jones International but the source is well the source.
What schools offer an ONLINE Masters in English or Ph.D. in English? I have a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies - English and a Master of Arts degree in Education. Do any schools have online doctorate or phd programs? I'm wondering if any "brick and mortar" schools offer doctorates or phd degrees online. I know there is plenty extension schools that have masters programs online (Harvard, NE, MIT, etc...) but nothing further up. Please keep in mind im only asking about programs associated with well known, non-online only, schools. If you know of several schools that do I'm preferably interested a business degree. jannsody, You misunderstood the question. This is exactly why I am asking about major colleges/universities that offer online degrees. I am not asking about uni of phoenix, capella or anything of that sort. On another note, some online regionally accredited schools are respected by employers (NOT the two I listed) above but this is outside the question.
Online degrees, what is the criteria to find out if the degree is accepted at other colleges? There are many online degree programs offered on the internet. How can I check if the online degree is accepted by the job market. A school teacher with a master's degree in education had to pay back her salary increase because the degree wasn't accepted by the Dept of Ed.
Will schools hire me with an online masters as a reading specialist? I got my undergraduate teaching degree at Eastern Michigan, a nationally acclaimed college of education. Now I would like to become a reading specialist, but I am moving around right now, and would like to get it online. I have been teaching for three years. If I apply to a new school with an online masters with reading, will I be likely to get the job as either a teacher or reading specialist? I want the convenience of an online degree, but I don't want to make myself less marketable.
How do employers rate online graduate degrees? I am looking at potential business schools to obtain my Masters in Management, or another related field. I was wondering where do employers rate online schools, such as the University of Phoenix, against other traditional business schools. Im guessing it's not in the top-tier with Harvard, North Western, Standford and such, but is University of Phoenix seen as a respectable school at all? Thanks.
