How do i go about doing this? 3 college degrees and can't find work!!!? I'm a college graduate with three college degrees (two in Business and one in Comp. Sci.) and i'm having trouble finding (and possibly keeping) a job. When i find one, it's usually to put some $ in my pocket to keep me going for something better. Five months ago, i lost my job after working for close to two years. I have applied to temp agencies and have gone from one job fair to another with little or no success. It's really taking a toll on me and putting a strain on my finances and keeping me from doing what i'm trying to do (relocating to another state, at this point seems like the only option). Where i live (Michigan), the economy is weak, there are hardly any jobs, and i have run out of patience! I always thought if you get a college degree, the doors swing open and you're good to go! So if i have these types of degrees, what is out here that's good. I could use some advice. Good advice! I have a lot of education and little experience.
Are american and canadian college degrees considered equal? i want to know, because i am currently a Florida resident and i plan on attending community college here in FL for the first two years, but i would like to transfer somewhere else after the two years are up. Interestingly, only more recently have police departments began requiring college degrees for specific ranks. ? Interestingly, only more recently have police departments began requiring college degrees for specific ranks. While seniority obviously adds to ones experience and knowledge in the field, sometimes veteran officers are simply not a good fit for certain types of promotional assignments, such as the move into police administration. It totally depends on each person. So it is based on a number of things, as you mention, merit, work ethic, experience, etc. When we talk about police structure, how important is it for a police department to put the right officer in the right position?

I want to get out of retail, but I have no college degrees. I can't afford any schooling. Any suggestions? I have completed high school, and I did go to two different community colleges, but I have nothing to show for it. I just couldn't seem to stick with anything. I have been working mainly retail jobs since. I have even been an assistant manager before. Yet, I find it very hard to get any job over $8.00 and hour and full time hours. I moved to San Antonio, TX from San Jose, CA two years ago. The cost of living is lower here, so the pay is generally lower as well. Yet I have friends who have the same educational background I do making more than me. I have been trying to get into entry level admin/office type jobs, but with no luck. They all seem to want 2+ years of previous experience. If no one gives me a job in that field, then how am I supposed to gain that experience? I cannot afford to go back to school to earn degrees or certificates. How can I get out of the deadly retail grip and make more then $8.00 an hour or even get more steady hours?
