- Investment Bankers serve as intermediaries between the corporate issuer of new securities and the investing public. Those in this profession first offer their clients pre-underwriting counseling and continue to work, after the distribution of securities is completed, by offering ongoing advice and guidance. Investment Bankers also manage the distribution of secondary offerings, maintain markets for previously-distributed securities and act as finders for private placements. As well, most Investment Bankers maintain broker-dealer operations that serve wholesale and retail clients in brokerage and advisory capacities. Investment Bankers must be able to prepare registration statements, price securities, as well as manage both the syndicate and stabilizing price of the issue during the offering and distribution period. - No, you don't need a masters degree, but please understand that if you want to work for one of the top-flight I-banks you'll need a good degree with great grades from a top 20 college. Firms like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley won't even interview you unless you went to a school on their accepted list. You can usually find that list on their web site under 'undergraduate recruiting'.
- It depends whether you have the knowledge to be a Investment Bankers. A normal Investment Banker needs a good understanding on Finance, Economics, as well as marketing. However, a good one carries lot more knowledge, which may includes Management, Culture, and other areas of studies.
