What is the value of a doctoral degree from the university of phoenix?
I know all their doctoral degrees are certified by a national board that also certifies schools like Harvard. However, I want to know if their doctoral programs are certified by enough important boards to be recognized by scientist, engineers, industry and other important people/groups.

- I don't believe they offer PhD's and the like.
- I do not think they have a doctorial program. If they do, graduates from the program should not expect to be a professor on a mjor college that requires a PHD; or any major research jobs. Keep in mind the reason to get a PHD is to be a professor or work in research; otherwise a Masters is good enough.
- It all depends are what you plan to do with it. What are your career goals? The reason I am asking is that a doctorate might make it harder for you in the job market unless you plan to go into the academic community as a professor to teach or be a consultant with a company that is searching for someone with educational credentials. If you plan to pursue a job as a professor, you may want to check the college/university you would like to work at to see if the degree from the University of Phoenix will suffice. They might want you to have more hands on experience in the traditional "college" environment in order to teach students. Finally, if you are going to pursue a doctorate you need to keep in mind a couple of things--will you be proud of your degree hanging on the wall and/or are you good at taking online courses? Some students do not do well taking online courses. Bottom line--talk to other students and alumni. Good Luck! If you want to know more about schools, check the link below:
- Usually the only reason people get these doctorates is because a company is sponsoring them and forcing them to take it while working. With the work experience they get, it later becomes meaningless where they got their doctorate. Don't do a doctorate at U of Phoenix unless you are being sponsored.
- University of Phoenix is one of the most highest respected online education institutions in North Ameroica. I have a friend who recently graduated with a Masters in Nursing Admin from UP and has a wonderful new job because of it. I wouldn't worry about the other degrees.
