What kind of postsecondary education should I take?

I'm a new immigrant to Toronto. I want to restart my career in the press business. (TV, mag, newspaper, website) I've be a English-Chinese translator and interpreter for about 5 years. I assume that I need to go to a college or university to get a diploma or degree to get myself in the press industry in Canada. What kind of program should I take? What institute should I go to? And is it possible for me to get started a low position in any of this sort of companies? Where should I start?

  1. Try to get a bachelors in journalism, because that seems to suit you best with the info. you provided. I would go with that if I were you. You will definitely need AT LEAST a bachelor. with the competitiveness in the united states, including canada, you can hardly get a job without a bachelors. People will accept you more if you pursue a second bachelors and a masters. You can start on any level, depending on your experience. Most people start at the lowest level and work their way up. For example, you can just start working at a local magazine office serving coffee to the staff or just shredding the papers, and then slowly work your way up, or work your way up really fast, depending on how you are and how the work environment is.
