Why is getting a postsecondary education important to you? What do you plan to achieve?

  1. Because I can't teach with a High School diploma. Nor can I make more than $40,000 in Education without a master's. Not around here, at least.
  2. Higher education has its own advantages and some disadvantages, too. All depends on your personal and social situation.
  3. People with degrees always make a little bit more than those without. Keep in mind, it's not a resounding difference in salary...maybe only a few thousand per year.
  4. I never went to college for the jobs available. I went to college because I wanted to learn about stuff and experience what college is all about. I learned that academia wasn't for me because they structure you into the way they want. Many of the classes I wanted (about 1/4) I never took because of time conflict or being full. Also, I often ignore my studies because I feel pushed into them rather than letting my own creativity guide me into learning what I like and what I want. I'm currently going to Law School. I wish I didn't have to (because like I said, academia sucks), but the incentive is career-wise since I can't picture myself doing anything else. Sadly, just learning about different topics (biology, history, geography, etc.) and traveling can't be made into a career.
