- how to find a good company that pays well
- Sorry to appear a smarta**e, but all you will most likely learn in an MBA is theory unless you already have experience in business. Start your own business with the intention of building a successful one and you will learn an enormous amount. As is said many times, mistakes are the best way to learn. As with any educational experience, each new level that you reach brings more excitement and challenge, so there is no single important item, but a constant stream that builds on what has come before. All the best with it. Cheers Alister http://www.marketscience.com.au
- Soni, there are many things that you'll get out of an MBA program. And for each student, the experience will be quite different, you make the program want you want it to be. From my perspective as somebody with a tech background, I wanted executive leadership skills which means several things: Finance skills: Being able to understand and analyze financial statements and manage a company through external and internal financial reporting. Defining valuable metrics that will help you improve your organization's performance. Marketing skills: Being able to drive topline revenue numbers by delivering value to your customer and capturing as much of that value for your company. We're talking Marketing Research, Pricing and even Operations. Strategy skills: Being able to look at your business from the 25,000 ft level and define how your business will be positioned in a business and corporate sense. Integrating Finance and Marketing data for a long-term direction, big-picture vision. Communication skills: Delivering an interesting and articulate message to people, whether it's a one on one meeting or boardroom meeting, the basic principles are the same. It also includes written communication, networking and international/global context skills. Time Management, Prioritization and Decision-making skills: In the program you'll be inundated with things to do academically, personally and socially. You'll learn how to pick and choose what's most important, right now and make it work in your schedule. You'll also learn to make a decision with only partial data which is what you'll do in the real world. Pick a direction and start driving towards it. Leadership Skills: Through club activities, study groups, and the Integrative exercise you'll learn how to lead. What does leading mean? It means taking responsibility, organizing the group and delegating tasks to get things done. It's about believing that you can get things done. These skills are just some of my thoughts but probably a good starting spot. I'm sure you'll get very different answers from people. Good luck! Ron
