  1. I sort of don't think an online doctoral program is really worth it. The point of higher education is to prove that you are both smart enough and willing enough to make an investment in your future. Online programs don't seem to require as much effort, be as stringent in their admissions, and don't carry the same weight in academia or in the private sector as traditional programs.
  2. I highly doubt there are online doctoral degrees. Doctoral programs usually involve a high degree of scientific RESEARCH, which needs to be done in a lab, with the support and supervision of a professor. If you find someone willing to give you a PhD online, then the degree will hardly be valid or acceptible by any institution.
  3. I am currently enrolled in a PhD program at Walden University, which specializes in distance education and has been doing so for more than 20 years. They are a very well known and accredited university. They have a variety of majors and many of the graduates of the university work for the government in Washington, DC. It is geared for the working professional. It is really a great place. Very supportive. Check it out Oh and I want to refute what the other two individuals posted. The program is rigorous and intensive. It is not one of those sign up and receive your degree in the mail type places. You have sessions that you will have to attend in person as well, but they usually focus them during times that most are off work (like Christmas break, and summer time).
