94% Psychology Doctoral Program Rejection Rate?

Of course trying to get into a PhD program in clinical psychology is damn near impossible but at my current university, the rejection rate for all PhD's in psychology is about 90%. This is just a crappy state school too. Is that the rejection rate i should expect at every university or are some easier to get into than that? What i mean by rejection rate is that 94% of the people who apply to get into some kind of psychology doctoral program at my current university are rejected.

  1. Try a professional school...costs more but higher acceptance rate...Of course if you want to do research then a professional school does not work in which case you have to go for volume applications...the more you apply the more you increase your chances. Otherwise go to the school you want to go to and build relationships ask what you have to do to get in...get accepted on achedemic probation or into there masters program and re-apply..where there is a will there is always a way.
  2. If you are applying for clinical the rejection rate is very high. My advice is to be the book, "Graduate study in Psychology." It is put out every year by APA and has information for every doctoral program in the US for every type of advanced psych degree. Inside you will find acceptance rates, average GPA, average GRE, and other useful information for every school. I cannot stress how useful it is.
