What can I do about my life?

I have always wanted to train in wrestling either freestyle or greco roman in the olympics, but before this I want to go to ncaa division 1 and wrestle collegiate. This is my goal in life, but my parents want me stuck to academics. I don't mind being a nutritionist/physical trainer or college wrestling coach after my education, but they're the type that expect nothing less than a doctor out of me. Wow!

  1. umm... are u 18? do what u want. Lie even, it's real popular.
  2. How old are you? You have to talk to them and tell them that you wants to study something that you feel happy doing it
  3. Prove yourself to your family. Show them that you're capable.
  4. i think yr parents are being sensible and advising you to take up a "safe" route - you have to judge how much you believe in yourself and your dream. I would say def go to college but do the course that is right for u ... u can always go to medicine afterwards if you decide to.
  5. You should do what u want, cause later u might realise its just too late for your dreams to come true.
  6. WOW! You can still study the things you want, but you could be a teacher and have summers off! In the summer, you can go to the summer olympics!
  7. I have been through the agony you describe. I was passionate about not becoming a doctor. All efforts of well wishers failed to get me enrolled for medicine. My negative vibes did the job. Finally at 18 Pop gave up and let me be what I wanted to be- out of frustration more than love. I became a scientist/discoverer. Hence it's all about passion.Go into the reasons why they you want to be a doctor. Their answers will reflect the "keeping up with Jone's" syndrome. Make them see the shallowness of their vision. Tell them you would rather fight in the ring with a healthy guy rather than diseased 24/7-not because you are less considerate of the sick but you know others can do a better job. Win- Win. Good luck.
  8. Not all people are cut out to be doctors. Just like, not all people are cut out to be wrestlers. Tell your parents what you want. It is your future, not theirs. As long as you support yourself, you can be what you want to be.
