Training for careers - Royal Navy etc?
I am interested in getting serious training for a career, like how they do in the Royal Navy, but i don't know where to start. I don't fancy the Royal Navy as you have to sign up for so many years etc. Does any body no anywhere else where you can get trained for careers like this? Many thanks in advance

- You don't have to sign your life away these days. There is a 6 month introductory period to see if you like it, then if you do you sign up for 3 years. Further enlistment is up to you. The RN is a grand life, there are far worse ways of earning a crust. Would you like to be stuck in some soulless office with a Dilbert for a boss? No, neither would I.
- i spent ten years in the royal navy although you sign up for 22 years after four and a half you can put in your notice which is eighteen months as for training there isn't much you can really do fitness is pretty basic and if you can run a mile and a half in under twelve and a half minutes you should be fine.
- You sign up for twenty two... you only have to do four and a half. If you want training for a career, you won't find many employers who will be interested in you with a shorter commitment than that. Welcome to the real world.
- You dont sign up for a 22 year open engagement anymore - its 18 years. You can leave at any point up till 6 months. After that you can apply to leave after being out of training for 3 years. For most branches that means serving a minimum of 4.5 years.
