Attending college/university Irish or British army?

Can enlisted men get a college degree whilst in the army. The reason i ask is because i am thinking about joining the army Irish/British as a career not just a five year stint but getting into the officer training program is difficult at best. The reason i ask is that the army fitness trainers and chefs and people like that (who are NCOs not officers) have degrees and such and i am just wondering did they receive there degrees/qualifications in college or in house (from the army) and would those qualifications suffice in the civilian world. Any info is much appreciated Thanks

  1. im not in either army but im planning on joining the british army in 3 years when im 18 and quite recently i went to an army information thing with school yes you can go to university with the british army, they will pay you to do it, and they are definitely good for the civilian world. as well as the degrees though you can get NVQs which can vary in equivalence to gcses to degrees depending on the level. you go about getting NVQs from specialist training (eg, combat medic training), there may be other ways of getting them to but im not sure.
