Would choosing this career help me get with another one later on?
I'm training to be a Medical Office Laboratory Technician, but I would like to be a funeral director or a psychiatrist. Would this career help me advance to the other two or where could I advance to

- I don't think so. totally different
- It will always help
- It can help you advance to any other placement...says lots for your character also. Good luck
- I don't know for sure but I would guess there could be a link to funeral director. Contact an advisor at the school you attend and ask them, they should be able to tell you what classes will transfer or what classes will work towards the career you choose. Good luck!
- Any good work experience, and further knowledge will help you. The lab tech thing would probably help you some, but for those two potential careers... bartending might help you more. Funeral Director and Psychiatrist are about interpersonal relationships. Lab tech is about data analysis. If that's definately where you want to go, why don't you go straight there. (I'm sure you could find an assistant position in the funeral business somehwere.)
- A psychiatrist is an MD, with a psychiatric specialty. So, no on that one. If you aren't on tract to complete medical school, this one isn't in the cards for you. Funeral director is another thing altogether. Although I doubt it is "good training" per se, your current career choice is similar enough to some of the demands of your future interests to help rather than hurt.
