What kind of skills and education are needed to run a Signs/logo/signage manufacturing co?
In other words, what kind of degree would I most likely need to pursue a career in this industry? Graphic design, Engineering....etc? Per say If I wanted to sale and manufacture signs for other corporations, what is the market like for this type of work? Is it in demand? What kind of salary could I look forward to?

- You really need to be able to read and write at least a second-grade level. If you can spell and do simple arithmetic that is a huge plus! This is not the type of job that requires major skills. The person who wants the sign tells you how to design it. So you don't need to design it. You buy the letters and the numbers from companies that specialize only in manufacturing those things. Mostly, the sign is stuck on a wall or hung off a roof. That does not really require engineering skills. There is always a market for signs. Either a sign needs to be taken down because the business has shut down or a sign needs to be made for a new business. Either way, you have work. Even existing businesses need to repaint or re-hang or even re-create their signs because of the sheer age of the signs. However, this is not the kind of business in which you make money working on your own. You need to hire people to do the actual work. And you just get a cut. So, let's say it costs $25 for materials and $75 for labor and transportation, you charge $500 and keep $400 out of that.
