Where should i go to get a degree to be a pilot ?

I want to become a pilot for a good airline eg . Emirates or British airways. What degrees do i need and is california institute of technology a good place to go? i was thinking about doing enginering. http://www.caltech.edu/ on that site which academic divisions should i do ? Thank you

  1. To become a pilot, you do not need college education. It may help, since it shows you are smart and trainable, but it is not necessary. Some universities offer programs in aviation. Technical degrees would be better than non-technical degrees, if your university does not offer an aviation program. But the main thing you need to do is get flight time from a flight training program. Or, you can go into the military and become a military pilot, then transition to an airline. Caltech would be a terrible choice for you. If you wanted to teach other people how to design airplanes, Caltech would be good. But to learn how to fly them, Caltech would be a lot of work for nothing. You should find a university that has an aviation program. None of the top tier schools (Caltech, MIT, the Ivies, Stanford, etc) will help you with this, that is not the type of program they are good at.
