What is the value of a doctoral degree from the University of Phoenix Online? Please include current ranking?

I am considering pursuing PhD in Nursing from the University of Phoenix Online. Like many other online universities, the UOP also promise to help succeed its students (at least that is how their enrollment counselors sound). My apprehension lies within the fact that over the past several years, UOPs credibility has been under tight scrutiny and is it worth the effort, time and money?

1. I avoided University of Phoenix due to the poor reviews I read online about it and the practices of the school. Understand that many of the people rating and reviewing are motivated by bad experiences and you will likely find more negative reviews of something than positive but that in conjunction with the issues that school has had in the past made *ME* decide I didn't want to be associated with it. I would look at other schools offering programs online, if you have not already and see what works best for you. If you have already and are simply looking at ruling UOP out or not I can only wish you luck. With the wide availability of online programs now I don't think it is worth it to choose an institution that may evoke negative opinions from potential employers, rather one they aren't familiar with is preferable in my opinion.
