Which colleges offer a Doctoral Degree in Music Buisness/Finance AND Music Production/Engineering?

I'm looking for a college where I can eventually earn a Doctoral Degree in Music BusinessAND Music Production/Engineering. I essentially want to be a music producer one day. I've searched online, but nothing seems to stand out. Thanks!! (:

  1. Nothing stands out because that degree doesn't exist. You would study music business in a DBA program or a PhD in Business Administration where you've elected music business as your area of research. Production/Engineering is vocational/technical in nature and not academic. It would be unusual to see that at the master's level and far more unlikely at the doctoral level. You could study about the nature and design of the equipment used in electrical/electronic engineering or acoustic engineering. It wouldn't be about "how to record" though - it would be some serious science and engineering. You'd study about sound and ideal conditions in acoustical physics. None of these would be housed in a music department or college. If you want to be a music producer then 10 years in a university becoming "Dr." isn't the way to go about it. A degree at this level is for people that intend to teach in the university or to conduct research in their field. A DBA/PhD studying music business might compare the transition in the industry since the boom in the Internet looking at music distribution channels and the rise in Indy producers comparing volume of distributions in each medium as well as earnings at all levels from performer support to the label. It's interesting stuff but it's not making recordings. If you want the finest in commercial music in the world, it's Berklee College of Music in Boston. They don't do a PhD but they have a cooperative for an MBA. MBA's in music business are the folks that are trained to run labels.
