Why do so many college students these days end up getting no where non-lucrative college degrees?

It seems many college students these days are getting non-lucrative no where degrees. Mainly BA degrees. There's really not much of future with BA degrees these days. I just don't understand why so many students these days don't think about their future.

1. this is what happens when they pick majors such as african-american studies or chicano studies or womens studies. the only thing they learn is how to hate the USA. but hey, look how far obama got.
2. I know what you mean. It's mainly because they have no guidance. They're just in college because their parents told them they had to go to college. They just choose the easiest and most simple degree to get because they simply had no one to guide them in the right direction. They don't really think too much of which field of study would have the most lucrativeness.

9. With Liberals constantly increasing taxes on businesses, businesses are being forced to cut back. Liberals don't get it.... .....the more you taxe a business, the more the business must cut back and it inevitably effects jobs. Liberals have made running a business very costly, it doesn't leave much for employees.
10. Most jobs are now oversea. Btw, why do we allow the importation of goods not manufactured under the same labor and environment regulations as we have here? Gee, I wonder if the GOP would block that job saving move?

12. It's supply and demand. The number of workers needed with BA degrees isn't increasing at the same rate that students are graduating. Good luck finding a degree where that isn't true...minus medicine which has pretty strict limits on the number of graduates produced each year.
13. too many people to go to college. thats why they get shitty jobs after words. there isnt demand for the jobs they are "educating" themselves for. i make more money than anyone i know and i didnt go to school.
14. Most people's degrees (unless a PhD) are completely unrelated to their actual careers. You go to college to get enlightened, not to make more money. Statistically, someone with a college degree isn't going to make much more money than someone with just a highschool diploma.
15. Do you honestly think conservatives---people who deny evolution--get any degree is science or something that requires critical thinking? Cons don't even get degrees. They get extremely non-lucrative diplomas (or they don't even get those).
16. Well, it's not all about money, you know. I mean, where would we be if every single college student chose to be a lawyer or a doctor? Who would teach our kindergarteners? Who would manage our offices? Not everyone is "in it for the money". When I was in school, I wanted to be a teacher at one point, and I remember telling a friend of my father's who countered by saying something like, "Wow, you must not care about money very much!" and I was disgusted that all he could think of was getting filthy rich. So long as you're secure and not struggling, you can still have a worthy and useful life.
17. That is because many of the College Students these days are not very smart and do not have the ability to major in a real field like Electrical Engineering. The nowhere liberal arts degrees are the gut classes and basket weaving classes that anyone with an IQ of 30 can pass. The Radical Leftists flock to the Liberal Arts classes because the Radical Leftists are stupid and do not have the capability to pass a class that requires some thought and some study.

19. I think it is what your degree is in than if it is a BS/BA. Quite a few students who go onto medical school usually get a BA in a subject they are really interested in and not really relevant to medical school. That way they can take more electives for the pre-med track. You have to take core courses in biology, math, chemistry, and physics for medical school. Not sure if it is a requirement, but you need to take them if you want any chance passing the MCATs. Edit: Why thumbs down? This is fact. If your not going to work in an area, then why get a BS?
20. Well, the highly skilled jobs are going overseas. If you go into the sciences chances are you'll need to move into India. America is becoming the worlds sales force and policemen. So, you need to be either in the creative arts, marketing, or communications to have a chance after graduation. They can go to law school but there are already ten lawyers for one citizen in this country, which is another problem. So, the professions that put Americans in charge of their own destiny like engineering, computer science, etc are being outsourced. It's unfortunate. We used to lead the world in innovation. Now we import it.
21. Well, Mr. Obama is after successful people. He uses them as scapegoats/Boogie man to push his retarded policies!! He has been playing the masses against one another, class warfare, in order to get more power. All those college students who voted for this guy also voted for BS non-lucrative jobs!! They can't get mad b/c they just got what they wanted, CHANGE. Next time they ask for CHANGE, they need to understand what type of change that they are getting & then make sure that politician has a proven track record of attaining those types of results, but instead they vote for someone with NO record of accomplishment!!
