What is the difference between a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral Degree?
Additionally, can someone tell me what qualifications you need for masters and doctoral; and tell me if a doctoral and Phd is the same. Also can you tell me about Boston University's business program. Thanks in advance.

- bachelors is somewhat like the primary step into the Graduate education arena ..and smwhat a necessity masters is ones own choice ...and not neceesary.. just to gain an extra edge and probably master the subject with deep research and job trainings doctoral or Phd. is only taken when one has made up his mind to devote his soul to the subject and be a profficient person in that respect
- A Bachelors degree is your typical undergraduate degree. It's the primary degree you get when you graduate college. It's typically a 4 year degree that gives you a core set of skills to seek a career once you graduate. It's generally the primary thing you major in. A typical graduate with a bachelors degree, on average, will generate a salary of $28k-$32k. A Masters degree is voluntary. It's a degree one seeks after completing a bachelor's degree. On average it takes an additional 2 -2 1/2 years to complete after the Bachelors degree. This type of degree is usually intended to increase the skills you learned from your bachelors degree to make you more marketable and knowledgeable in that area. It also (usually) requires an independent research project called a thesis. You will design, conduct, and run experimentation on your own independent research idea, organize the project, and gather and interpret the data. You usually will then put all that information in a formal thesis document and present it to a thesis committee for defense of your research. Salary increases about 5k-8k above a bachelor's degree. A Ph.D. is the level above a masters. You essentially do the same type of work as a masters degree. Except now you do a project called a dissertation. It's often longer, more complicated, and more intense research than the masters thesis. A Ph.D can take YEARS, (sometimes 7+ years to complete a Ph.D.) and is usually only recommended to those who want to invest their life and soul into this type of work. However, Ph.D's often make for good candidates to academia, professors, and department chairs of colleges and such, as the Ph.D. shows superior study, research, and proficiency in their field of study.
- the different levels mean different things for their respective area. many occupations require at least a masters of a doctoral education to enter the field. again, it depends which specific area you plan to study.
