Would you do Collins project this way ?

5/ by v_kshemk...In some cases and some times some of the decisions taken by us do not leave a chance for alterations, and we are left with point of no return. The persons who are best guided by some of the godfathers, certainly reach the predetermined destination in their life, but a very few are lucky this way. 6/ by ʃosh Aℓfred Φ Tε Jεn ψ Effort is the wind, that blows the boat ahead. 7/ by VenkataRamana V when U are moving ahead with full energy, you should pause and see if you still think you are in the right direction. and then resume Ur efforts. 8/ by Ahmed yes , I agree. Unless you don't have clear vision, perfect plan and resources you should not spend huge efforts. In most cases "resources" are the main factor which effects a plan. So You should have at least two plans; if you feel that you are heading towards failure go to 2nd plan. Or you should break the task into 2 or more phases. Yo may go one by one giving some time between the phases. In this case you may gather and workout on resource arrangements. 9/by small Extremely important question....... highlighting the need to handle both the two distinct aspects of planning and execution or strategy and tactics. Huge efforts in wrong direction take one faster to the wrong destination.... absolutely true and precisely why the right strategy scores over tactics in the longer term. However, this obviously applies only for important and longer term operations. In the shorter term activities, the tactics seem to be more important and more often than not, an elaborate planning in such cases would only lead to missing the bus. Different people have different strengths and a good organization demands the right people for the respective jobs of strategic planning and efficient operations. It is indeed ironic that the two distinct capabilities hardly ever seem to vest in the same person. Surprisingly, even huge corporate organizations as a whole seem to excel in only one of the categories to the exclusion of the other........ and this is one of the key reasons why outsourcing either of operations or of high-end management decision-making becomes inevitable at crucial stages for almost every organization....... in comparison, outsourcing for cost saving is only a lower-rung need. The above equally applies at all levels..... whether individual or family or government. Appropriate outsourcing of the weaker of the two categories of skills/capabilities is the answer. At level of the individual day-to-day activities, it pays to identify important issues correctly and sleeping overnight on them. The trouble is that we end up with too many urgent matters to be taken care of now itself.... this upsets our ability to handle the important issues properly which in turn creates more urgent issues to be handled, thus ending up in a vicious cycle of one feeding the other....... the answer lies in a simple discipline to be followed...... setting aside an hour or two from our daily routine to just ponder over what has happened in the previous 24 hours and what needs to be done in the next 24 hours. This same method is followed by business and other organizations through periodic brainstorming or review sessions involving all Heads of Departments covering the past year or quarter or month and looking forward to the coming year, quarter or month, as the case may be.. 10/ by Counsellor Oneil Another excellent question sweetheart pinki ! Many corporations , governments and individuals do make a mistake of moving in wrong direction. But remember one thing, it is extremely difficult to identify right direction before you start, you do not have the full information to take decision. So it is always better , you move ahead , review everything and then if required revise and reset the direction so that you do not loose all the efforts. In personal life this is very important , you fall in love with a wrong person , or pursue wrong education and career and repent. At such occasions reviewing your assumptions , re visiting your thought processes does help. 11/ by Jojo207 Sure thing. Happened on Collins project if you believe what you read. 12/by Naguru I agree. The solution is that we should not take wrong direction. We should adopt positive attitude only and take right direction with a noble vision. This kind of a decision is being taken when we believe in action and that to spontaneous and our thinking process is not working and after first step we do realise the mistake ,even though no guts to go back in the same way as we have started. The prestige issue comes in between and going in the wrong directions even though we are aware of the wrong decision. 13/by Ramson Before one undertake any task at hand , one must fully understand , validate and decide upon the course of action with full implications of the task ahead. Once you have decided on the strategy , you must go with full steam to accomplish the given task. However, one

  1. you really just have to understand where the theory is coming from, and then you can understand what is being said about it.
  2. The Collins project, in my opinion, is not the quintessential example of a solution poorly planned and executed. Each project taken on by two of more people is a diverse accumulation of frequently opposing ideas based upon many different components of human feelings and thoughts. Often, the roles filled for the execution of a plan of action are assumed by individuals who are not actually qualified to play them. I have a friend who is fond of saying that if you want a chance of successfully executing a plan, assign the task to one person. Any more than one is a compromise sacrificing quality and efficiency for the sake of implementation and utility. I think that he is right. I am not in the habit of speculating as to the nature of the problems of the past. I have many problems in the present that keep me busy. Examination of the past generally addresses the mistakes made in the past without a clearly defined interest in finding the solution. Usually it is assumed that the decisions made in implementing a project and which failed to accomplish their goal should simply be reversed in order to correct the mistakes. In reality, no problem can be formalized as reliable because the problem itself is not static. A cursory study of history amply demonstrates that great ideas are the result of a single human's insight into the problem and its solution.
