Alternatives to traditional colleges? (Training/Certification Programs, etc.)?

Hey, do any of you know of any jobs or career paths to get into that doesnt involve your prototype 4-year traditional college route? You know, some kind of special training or certification program I could sign up for? I know about the military, but besides that. Anybody previously or currently involved in a line of work like I'm describing??? Where can I look for programs/job/career options such as this?? Thanks
