Would it be better to have a background in the arts or sciences when majoring in Business Administration?

I would be choosing my subject combination next year and my grades for both the arts and science subjects are equally good so I don't know whether to opt for the arts or science stream. Which would be better if I want to apply for a course in Business Admin in uni? I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, so personal opinions are accepted. Thanks for taking the time. :)

  1. I would always shoot for a background in science if possible it will give you the math foundation that is so important in today's job market. You will likely take some liberal arts courses as well for your general education foundation. Good luck!
  2. Well, business can be a very diverse field. It doesn't rely solely on either the arts or the sciences, but rather draws on them both in one way or another. For instance, it's important to have good writing skills in the business field (an art), but you'll also need a deep understanding of the economy and basic to advanced economic principles (a science, in my opinion). Therefore, I would recommend that as university prep for the business field, you do whatever the he** you want! If you have to go with either the arts or the sciences stream AND CAN'T TAKE COURSES IN BOTH FIELDS SIMULTANEOUSLY, I would recommend going with which stream you enjoy most since you claim your grades in the two are relatively equal. If you have the option of taking courses in both of them, I would probably take some writing courses, economics, math, as well as computer and foreign language courses if your school offers them. However, courses in history, the hard sciences (bio, chem, etc.), literature, and technology would also be good general prep for college - it's really up to you. If you can get into some psychology or other social sciences, too, that would also help you in the long run. Take AP classes if you get the chance in order to eliminate a couple of those annoying electives you'll have to face in university. Bottom line, you shouldn't spend your high school years preparing for a specific major because there's no telling if you'll actually end up sticking with that. So take what you feel most comfortable with and try to prepare yourself for college as a whole rather than just for the major you think you'll pursue. Good luck with school!
