If the government made all public colleges and universities tuition-free, would private schools become cheaper?

I want to see if extending the logic of ObamaCare to postsecondary education would cause the same thing. In other words, if the government fully paid for your tuition to go to a public university or college (say UCLA or UT Austin), would the tuition rates at Harvard and Duke drop to become more affordable, too? (Please STAR this question!)

  1. That is a wild dream...but not A bad one.
  2. Tuition free as in my tax dollars would pay for everyone to attend college?
  3. Comparing apples to oranges is going to do what, besides waste time?
  4. Yes, I think they would. Competition would force private schools to lower their prices. Not only that but free education would give Americans a better educated workforce and make us more competitive in the global economy
