MBA or MPA for the job market?

Which is more reputable? Will having an MBA substantially increase your case for employment? I live in Northern California (Sacramento), and attend the California State University system.. Essentially I can get my Masters of Public Administration for free (State University grant) or pay 7-10K out of pocket for the Masters of Business Administration prerequisite courses and special MBA fees.. Bear in mind that my internships have been in politics and I live in a Government area

  1. You have to decide depending on your long term plans. If you do an MPA it is mostly related Government jobs. You do have internships in politics which would make this degree easier to obtain and since you live in a government area, you could easily obtain jobs as well. On the other hand, MBA is for those who want to get jobs in corporations and etc. Depending on what you specialize in MBA such as finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, etc. would most likely decide your career line. If you plan to move around in the future, you could get a job anywhere with a MBA but would have to look for government jobs with MPA
