how to become an x-ray tech.....10 points to best?

I am exploring options for a career, some reason being an x-ray tech caught my attention the most....I am looking online where to train, and i've come across a handful of different places...My main question is, a lot of the places only offer certificates, from common sense i already know they aren't as meaningful as a degree, but how big of a difference will it make if i only have a certificate? I am open to degree programs but i really just need some guidance before making a decision.Any advice or suggestions will be very helpful. thank you, i will pick best answer.

  1. you should get a degree as a medical assistant and then get your x-ray tech certificate. Its like having a degree in finance or economics and having a license to trade securities.
  2. Look at the local vocational-technical school, or community college. They either have a program, or can direct you to one. My buddy got his training right in our town at the vo-tech.
  3. My father is an x-ray tech at one of the biggest hospitals in the state and he got a 4 year degree before starting his career. Now, of course that was like 20-25 years ago but I'm sure most of the best hospitals will still be looking for similar when bringing techs in. However, since x-ray techs are still in demand, a certification should be good enough to land you a job at many small to mid-sized places
