Can my son stay on my health insurance if he is doing career training?
I know this is almost impossible because its different with most cariers im sure however, i have blue cross blue shield insurance and my son is going to become a helicopter pilot as well as an airframe and powerplant mechanic. Although he technically isnt in school(taking 12 credits) he is still a student. Does this count as being a full time student on my insurance?

- How about calling the toll-free customer service number on your card and asking them?
- I think that he has to take a minimum of 9-12 credits in order for him to be considered a full time student. You should check with your insurance plan for more information regarding this, as they are the ones that will be disbursing the funds.
- When you're having a crisis at work or your child is struggling in school, it's easy to think, "if only I could quit my job, all these problems would go away." But if you resign rashly, you may find that underlying problems remain and you've just given up vital family income. Blaming your work -- without thinking it through -- may be a mistake.
- If your son is under 26 years of age and has no job that offers group health plan, he can be added to your policy but only when your insurance company decides he can do that. Under the Health Care Act law, they must allow him to go on your policy but it does not have to be until your policy renewal date or their open enrollment period. He does not have to be a student AT ALL any more under the new laws, he does not have to live with you and he can be married. Check this link Adult Child coverage http://www.healthcare.gov
