Any tips for security officer career?
I recently got hired as a security officer. I enjoy the job and would like to make a career out of it. I have plans to get CPR, AED, and Act 235 training in the future, but what are some other tips or suggestions to help me advance and make this a better career for myself?

- Yeah, here's my tip. Become a cop instead, it pays much better and has a pension plan.
- If your interested in a a security officer career, the first thing I would recommend is to work for a large stable company. Since you intend to do this for many years, make sure you work for a company that will actually be there. Be carefule of contract companies since contracts come and go and so do the jobs. I would recommend a place like a shopping mall, a hotel, a casino, or even being an armoured courier with Brinks or Dunbar. Target also has a really good security/asset protection department that you can work your way up in. Find a large company and move up the ranks to supervisor, manager, district mamanger and even regional manager. Or if you work for a smaller firm, you could be the director of security. Jst do a good job, continue your education and get any additonal certifications you can get. Then just stay at that job, don't bouce around, and move up.
