How good are Division III gofers?
What is their handicap? What are their tournament and academic resumes like? How much does being smart and being a legitimate candidate for the school without golf help? Also, how good is the last player on a team? Would there be any 5 or 6 handicaps on the team?

- I would say that the average handicap for a D III golfer is about an 8. Now if you talk to recruiters, they will probably tell you that it is a 2 or 3, which IS NOT CORRECT, trust me. I have done a bunch of research and only the best of the best of D III golfers are shooting 75. So if you are seriously interested in playing college golf here is how I the breakdown goes for the most part: D I shoot about 70-74 D II shoot about 74-78 D III shoot about 78-82 5 or 6 handicaps are more qualified to be playing D II golf, but yes some will be on the team. The worst player on a D III team will vary buy will probably have about a 10-12 handicap. As far as academics, they are VERY important, summer AJGA tournaments are important, GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE, pick like 10 colleges you would like to get into, contact coaches, fill out questionnaires, make a highlight video, make a resume, get NCAA eligibility, start all of this around the end of your sophomore year, to the end of your junior year. If you want to see a sample highlight video check out my brothers (hes trying to play D II) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9P4pIZZWTo GOOD LUCK
- I would guess 6-10 handicaps. I know someone that got recruited to play at UCSD with a 4 handicap. So to answer you question, a 5-6 handicap would probably get you onto most D-III teams.
- In D3, you'll find some golfers are very good and average under par. The best D3 guys could easily play D1. But there will many D3 players also who shoot around 80.
- Men would be 2 to 6 handicap without much of a resume Many are walk ons and get only partial if any scholarships
