- You haven't told us what KIND of "medical career" you are looking for, so there isn't much help we can offer to you. Sorry. UCSF has one of the top med schools in the country, so you are very lucky to be fairly close to that.
- Please avoid those private overly priced For-profit schools such as pima medical institute, sanford brown, everest, brown mackie, U of P, keiser and others as they are merely out to "make a profit" (** and their course credits usually do NOT transfer to other schools). The most affordable schools are the local community college, the county vo-tech school or even the state/public university. Please make sure that the program is accredited within the industry. With regard to medical assistant (and medical billers and coders), please be aware that there are NOT supposed to be too many jobs. The field is saturated. You may be aware, but the nursing (and social work/counseling) field is supposed to have a high (emotional) burn out rate and that includes all levels of the industry. For U.S. colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search.
