Does anyone out there know how hard is the Warrent Officer Flight Training Program in the Army is?

I'm 32 and in decent shape, and I need a career change. If I see anymore data cable I'm going to flip out. I never been much of a runner but I can jog in a group for a few miles. So I'm wondering if I'll be in way to over my head with all the 8 week weight loss program. Plus the secondary physically intensive schools that I will have to attend.

  1. It is exceedingly difficult. First, I assume you are not currently a soldier. Therefore, boot camp comes first (a decent 9 week weight loss program if you ask me). Assuming you get into W.O.C., you'll be coming out of boot camp, so no big issue, unless basic training has gone soft. The problem with WOC and the flight training program is not the physical aspect, but the incredibly intense pressure and the requirement that you pay unbelievably close attention to detail. The minutia which will be required of you is truly insane, unless you consider the job you're trying to get. I assure you, you will NEVER again face the sort of pressure that the flight training program will place on you, not even in combat. If that sounds appealing, go for it. What job could be more fun than flying? Don't worry, there is plenty of drudgery too. Just think, you can get your balls blown off!
  2. To be honest, you might actually be too old now. I was checking out the Warrant Officer pilot program for the Guard and their cut off is 30 but may offer an age waiver. It's worth looking into if you really want to do it but do it fast before you run out of time. Good Luck in what you decide!!
  3. Your out of luck: 18 to 29 years old upon entry into the course
