Joining the British Army, Any training tips for me??

I'm joining the British Army. Does anyone have any training tips for me?? I have been to the careers office and they say i need to be able to run a mile and a half in 12 minutes. Do at least one pull up/heave and need to be able to do push ups. Any tips? Also, is there anywhere i can find a training friend, as all my friends are really girly and wont train with me to help me out. x x x Thanks in advance.

  1. keep practising push-ups. do at least 10 per night. and as u continue add more and more pushups to ur regime. try and do a 20 min run each day. keep setting urself personal bests and each day try to beat your best time. if ur mates were real mates they'd help u out. my friend has decided to start going out for a run with me each evening. good luck hun!! and good for u for joining the army xxx
  2. Mate of mine just joined Marines, do loads of running and best to join a gym for other strenght exercises Good luck Jay
  3. bodyweight exercises, such as 500 squats: do as many as u can then rest, then keep doing as many as u can until u reach 500. try that with press ups, chin ups but reduce it from 500 to maybe 100, or whatever u feel is realistic, as these r harder to do than squats, try hill runs, find a hill and run up and down it as much as u can gauranteed to build up the muscles in ur legs and give u great cardio fitness and speed. train squats on a monday, upper body on a wed, then hill runs on a fri, this will give ur body plenty rest which it needs to recover. I use this program and I am getting very fit, do u really need a training partner? they usually just let u down anyway! whatever u decide to do good luck! p.s. don't waste ur time doing weights that won't help u at all!
